High school graduate offering to teach GCSE micro and macro economics in East London

Methodology

I am a social and approachable person, who avidly follows and supports Manchester United Football Club, so I would be great as a social tutor. I am looking to teach GCSE students and would be open to whatever lesson structure the student finds best.

Experience

I am a high school graduate who has just finished their GCSEs and am predicted to receive a grade 8 in GCSE economics. Because this will be my first time teaching, I will charge low and affordable rates, while ensuring the quality of teaching is brilliant.

Rates

Rate for online lessons : £8/h

Details

May ask for travel expenses if I need to travel by train to get to student's house.

Profile
I am a highly motivated and interested high school graduate and I very much enjoy working with figures and numbers, which is why I particularly enjoy studying maths and economics. I am fascinated by problem solving. I like to challenge myself to secure the correct answers in the most efficient way. This has empowered me with a strong level of stamina and commitment.
Among my future career options is teaching. I am confident that becoming a tutor would help me to better understand teaching from both a teacher and student’s perspective. This experience would invaluably inform my future career choice. I am eager to develop and enhance my transferable skills, such as communication and listening – skills which are fundamental to success in virtually every job. I am proud that my friends and family consider me to be reliable, trustworthy and empathetic – prerequisites for a successful teaching career.

Work experience
March 2018 Blakeberry Pharmacy
Address: 96 High Street South
East Ham, London, E6 3RL
Phone number: (concealed information)
I was honoured to receive a gold certificate recognising my commitment to Blakeberry Pharmacy. During this placement, I learnt how to be an effective team member through delivering medicine from the store room to the counter supervisor when a customer came to collect their prescription. I was in charge of making customers feel valued so that they return time and time again and ascertained their needs discretely. I was described by my employers as an approachable person, someone who was a good listener and had patience in abundance. In addition to this, I was also given the honour of re-arranging products on the store-floor and successfully did so in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Finally, I was also trusted with placing price labels on store products and then displaying them on shelves on the store-floor, which helped enhance my knowledge of organisation.
July 2019 Lloyds Banking Group
Address: 10 Gresham Street
London, EC2V 7AE
During my Group Corporate Treasury (GCT) work experience with Lloyds Banking Group, I learnt that the GCT manage the flow of cash between the deposits that divisions bring in and the loans that they take out, and also ‘plug the gap’ on funding if there is more money leaving the bank as loans than there is coming in as deposits by going to the market. Along with 11 others, I took part in ‘The Trading Game,’ where we had a starting portfolio worth £5 million, which was divided into 5 asset classes. We worked in groups of 3 and our sole aim was to make as much profit as possible. We were given scenarios each day, and had to respond by selling some of our assets and purchasing others to make profit as these scenarios would impact these asset prices, for example a no-deal Brexit would depreciate the FTSE All Share whereas the price of Gold would likely rise if a ‘hard Brexit’ were to take place. This refined my communication, teamwork, listening, leadership and decision-making skills. On our final day, we delivered our pitch and rationale in front of a panel of 3 investors from the UK’s largest financial services group and I was entrusted with opening and concluding my group’s pitch, which was aided by a PowerPoint presentation that I helped to create, which contained our award-winning rationale out of all 4 groups (decided by the investors). Our group made a record-breaking 16.48% profit by the end of The Trading Game, which highlights my ability to work effectively in a regulated environment.

Skills and achievements
- Fluent in English and Bengali
- Predicted to receive grade 8 in my French GCSE
- Outstanding attendance and impeccable punctuation
- Awarded a RED award for computer science in year 9 (Reward for Effort and Determination)

Interests
In order to sustain a healthy work-life balance, I often relax by playing competitive video games on my laptop, mobile phone and PlayStation. In addition to this, I sometimes program basic computer games on my laptop using the ‘Scratch’ software. Furthermore, I often go out to the park with my friends on Saturday mornings and play football, and we sometimes play cricket with each other during the summer. I take great pride in supporting Manchester United Football Club and watch as many of their games as possible, both during the season and pre-season, as well as the England National Football Team, while I sometimes follow the Bangladesh National Cricket Team as well and I watch them play with my dad.
I am confident that I am a mature and responsible individual, hence my mother often trusts me to pick my younger sister up from school. I also help my younger brother and sister with their homework from time to time and am entrusted with looking after my younger siblings and making sure they are safe and happy, which demonstrates my high level of responsibility.
