I offer tailored sessions to school pupils wishing to build their confidence and improve their performance in specific areas. I have a huge store of materials, including many interactive materials and music-based activities as well as more traditional methods. As I currently teach in an outstanding secondary school I am able to provide expert guidance in improving exam performance.
For adults I offer relaxed sessions such as conversation classes to keep French fluent and to explore French culture, music, and film; or simple refresher sessions for those who would like to brush up their French for a holiday or for work.
Having had a love of French from very early on in life, I studied French at University and worked in Paris for two years after my degree. I then worked in a publishing company in London for another two years before taking a teaching qualification in order to share my love of the French language and culture.
I have since been working at St Aidan’s High School in Harrogate for over 25 years, working with pupils of all ages and abilities. I also have experience working with primary school children in a French club that I ran at my local primary school.
I am particularly keen to work with adults who would like to learn French for pleasure, perhaps for holiday use or for love of the language and the culture. I can offer one-to-one, couples or group sessions for adults.
I have many years’ experience teaching GCSE French and am familiar with the new exam specifications and how to help pupils improve their grade. I work with pupils of all ages and abilities and currently teach 3 GCSE groups, ranging from most able to weakest.
I also teach and tutor KS3 pupils. I can help those who are struggling with French as I can build a pupil’s confidence with fun activities and interactive materials.
I have also taught A level pupils for several years and can provide support for A level students looking for grammar consolidation, essay practice or oral work.
