I offer GCSE Language and Literature tuition, English support at Key Stage 3 and a step up to English at secondary school for years 5 and 6. I am careful to tailor work to the texts and syllabi followed at school.
I am a creative and inventive person, and I love to develop schemes of work alongside students' interests – from politics and fishing to lizards and Latin! I believe that reading for pleasure is key to success in English and beyond, and aspire to instil a love of reading in my students.
I am a qualified English teacher (PGCE) with three years of experience teaching Language and Literature in a secondary school. I have a first class BA in English from the University of Oxford and an MA in Education from the University of Manchester. I have experience catering for a wide range of special needs as well as higher ability students.
I am able to reduce my fee if lessons take place in Central Manchester or if more than one hour is booked at a time (e.g. for siblings).
I am a qualified secondary school English teacher undertaking a PhD in Education at the University of Manchester, whilst working as a tutor of English.
