I usually plan a detailed lesson beforehand. I start off with a small introduction that outlines what we will do today and helps to engage the children. I then go through the questions/reading with the children, getting them to read it but explaining anything they don't understand. Then I go through some of the questions with them whilst getting them to do some of them independently to make sure they understand what they have to do. Finally we mark the questions together and correct any mistakes they've made, and then finish with a light exercise like a crossword that summarises what they've learnt today.
I am a second year student at the university of Manchester. I have spent a lot of time during school and at university helping teach kids primary school English and maths in preparation for their SATS. I am confident in explaining difficult questions and problems to kids on an individual and group setting. I previously tutored for Kumon maths and English centre in North Dulwich and currently tutor for the tutor trust in primary schools across Manchester.
