My degree focused primarily on the investigation and dissemination of primary sources into a more easily digestible format, as such I focus my teaching style on the use of primary sources to understand the historical context and significance attached to the subject matter.
BAHons graduate of the University of Strathclyde, with teaching training.
Wealth of experience in relevant fields; specific focus on Early-Modern history with a specialty in European, Japanese and North American history as well as experience in Geo-Politics and Modern studies
I am an Honours graduate of the University of Strathclyde, History BA Hons. Having spent many years working in education I have an excellent work ethic, I'm punctual and have an affinity for learning new skills. The degree of personal input expected in university was particularly high which has led me to take a great deal of pride in the quality of my work leading to a great level of motivation and enthusiasm. An extensive course which focused on knowledge, understanding and the critical assessment of sources. The course placed priority on large individual pieces of work which require a high level of initiative and hard work as well as self-management of time. A great deal of experience with the organisation and structuring of study and practical works including a 4th year dissertation which required extensive research and organisation in contact with a single adviser. Experience working in a large group both in a leadership role and in acting as a member of the team in tutorials leading discussions and participating in group projects. The ability to critically asses and consider complex subjects and sources. The active participation in discussions and debates on the strength and merits of primary and secondary sources; their origins and their usefulness as a means to understand the historical context of the works
I am the holder of an accredited TEFL (Teaching English as a foreign language) qualification which qualifies me to teach a range of ages and ability levels in the correct use of English at a conversational level. The course focused on making teaching a free-flowing and effective exchange of ideas to enable students to maximise the effectiveness of time spent in class; I believe that these skills transfer readily to other forms of teaching and that the techniques used within allow for students to learn in a way that feels natural.
