I base my teaching on the creation of an excellent interpersonal rapport. My knowledge and enthusiasm underpin my informed pedagogical methodology and I am excellent at encouraging students to research their topic, plan their essays and deliver them perfectly. I am confident that my future students will enjoy teir work with me as much as my past and present students have. When you work with me you will enjoy sharing my obsession with history and politics, as well as my excellent use of the English language. Together we will embark on a journey of knowledge and deep thought and learn to express ourselves in a manner which confirms our dedication to the subject. I am more than aware of the beauty of learning, my enthusiasm for the subjects I teach and my certainty in the abilities of my students will ensure the learning process will be fun, fascinating and highly successful.

My work in supported housing has led to my attending dozens of certificated training courses, some one day, but most being two to seven day modules. I have numerous certificates which are relevant in an educational setting, including health and safety, fire safety and first aid qualifications. Many of my minor qualifications could be applied in the classroom when working with students from socially deprived backgrounds, those experiencing barriers to their learning .and students who need qualified and highly experienced support around common issues including stress, depression, general mental health problems and substance misuse issues.
I am a skilled tutor with exceptional historical knowledge and a true gift for supporting students to achieve their ambitions. I have a wide life experience and have returned to education later in life, performed exceptionally and achieved much in a few years. This makes me a somewhat unusual tutor in that I have the wisdom of maturity, in combination with up to date knowledge of all my core subjects and pedagogical practice. I am an extremely approachable teacher, with an excellent sense of humour and a genuine ability to create an, informal, yet boundaried and professional relationship with all my students. My enthusiasm for education and my subjects is founded upon my realisation that sharing my knowledge and academic talents with others is most definitely my vocation. Moreover, despite being 51, I retain a modern outlook and a deep desire to ensure others do not have to wait as long as I to realise their academic dreams.
