History student with A* in English Literature A-Level offering English lessons.

Methodology

My teaching method is entirely subjective to each individual's needs. I find out how each person works best as, through my own experience, I have learned that different people learn in different ways, visually, auditorily, practically, etc. I discuss with the student what they aim to get out of the session and we work our way, together, towards that goal. I promote confidence in their own ability and encourage them throughout.

Background

I am a history student at the University of Birmingham, I have achieved an A* in my English literature A-Level and have experience at teaching English to GCSE standard to people between the ages of 4 and 16, with the renowned company Kumon.

Rebecca's CV

Personal Profile:
I am a hardworking person, who can work well individually and as part of a team. I am confident, polite and personable and, due to this, I get along well with people. I listen well to people and instructions and will always complete a task given to me to the best of my ability. I am a quick learner and constantly striving to better myself and improve my skillset. I am flexible and will adapt myself to any given situation. I have excellent skills in English, Mathematics, and in my strongest area, History.

Other Achievements:
I have achieved Grade 5 in piano theory, Grade 4 in piano practical, and a Grade 1 in guitar practical. I have the Food Standards Agency Food Allergy Online Training (FSA CPD Certificate), and Food Safety Hygiene Level 2 Certificate.
Interests:
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, particularly thrillers and autobiographies. In order to keep fit, I enjoy going on long walks and playing sports, with the main sports I enjoy being football and tennis. My main interest, however, lies in music, with listening to a wide range leading to myself learning to play both the piano and guitar. This passion for music is due to, in part, my fascination and keen interest in the fashion and music of the modernist movement.
Work Experience:
Kumon, St. Helens College, St. Helens 16/10/2017 – 20/12/2017
I assisted children across a wide range of ages, to academic improvement in maths and English studies. I needed patience and understanding with the students to help support them with anything they needed. I communicated effectively with them, so they understood what I was explaining to them and in order to enhance their confidence, as well as support them efficiently. It was essential that I had the utmost respect for the students. It was also important that I, myself, was confident and personable in the role so that the students trusted me, so we could work effectively together to achieve the best outcome, highlighting both an ability to work as part of a team, alongside a demonstration of my leadership qualities.

Classroom Assistant – St Julie’s Primary School, Eccleston, St Helens 04/10/2017 – 26/02/2018
I helped the children of Year 3 at St Julie’s. I assisted the children in all aspects of their learning. In order to do this, it is essential that I have good listening skills, so I could understand the children’s needs. I also needed patience, and to be personable and friendly with the children, as well as being trustworthy and honest. Since I am a good listener, I can work well as part of a team, as well as individually when necessary. It was necessary to be confident to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the children.
