My teaching method is for the first class to get to know the student and help me to help them to figure out what stage of English learning they are at. After this, each week we will focus on a theme (reading, writing or speaking), as well as the many rules of grammar in the English Language. Each week we will start with a short quiz to recap on the previous week and homework will be given.
I am a student studying History at Queen Mary University of London. Although past events and the rich culture of our world is my passion, I would love to teach English as a second language or aid students in improving their English. I have both GCSE and A-Level qualifications in English Literature and English Language, plus I am a native English speaker.
The cancellation policy for my lessons is 48 hours before the lesson. Online tutoring is preferred however, at-home lessons will be in my room.

Volunteering and Work experience
19th August – Waitressing During the summer I went to work in a restaurant in
7th September Switzerland. This was an amazing prospect as I was able to
2019 develop on team building skills and leadership skills. As I
gained more experience, I was able to integrate some Swiss-
German phrases to interact with the customers. I gained
valuable lessons about dealing with pressure in a busy
30th July – School Volunteering During the summer I had the opportunity for a week long
3nd August volunteering experience at a primary school in India. I was
2018 able to interact with the children and get to know their everyday lives as well as teach them English and a short drama piece which they were able to perform on their own.
July 2017 – Waitressing This was my first job, working as a waitress at the
May 2018 Dolls House on the Hill café. I learnt how to
manage my time in a busy setting and how to work under pressure and be able to use my own initiative. One such occasion was when there was a big booking for a hen party and I was able to assist the other waitresses without asking for help and get on with my own work, washing up and making drinks, without getting in the way of my colleagues, in a limited space.
March 2016 Hobby Craft I was able to experience a typical work day and shadow an employee. I saw how to manage a cash register,
organise shelving units and experience a six hour working day. Looking at the employee I was shadowing I was able to see resilience in dealing with customers and key organisation skills especially when restocking products
July 2015 Lighthouse For one week I volunteered at a children’s summer
camp, where I was put in charge of a group of children. I had to look after them, make sure they were safe at all times and make sure they were not upset and that they enjoyed their time. This experience really helped me to understand different children’s’ attitudes and gave me valuable responsibility skills.
Other Skills and Achievements
I am bilingual as I speak Tamil and English, participated and won many elocution competitions in my mother tongue, Tamil, which has helped me with my confidence in public speaking. During an enrichment day at school, I successfully lead my group in designing a snack product and presenting it to a board of staff. This helped to boost my confidence and improve my leadership skills. I am confident in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Database and PowerPoint as well as basic programming as I did Computer Science GCSE.
May 2016 DofE I completed my Bronze DofE award, which ended with a
Expedition weekend expedition, which really tested my resilience and
strongly fortified team building skills. One example was when we had to help each other over a tall and muddy gate.
