HLTA with 13 Years experience supporting children's learning in EYF, KS1 & 2

Methodology

I believe that learning should be interesting, fun and tailored to the interests of the class/group/individual. It should be relevant, visual, stimulating, tactile with clear instructions and understanding of outcome. In the classroom I prefer to use co-operative and enquiry based learning, differentiated for ability. When working one to one with a student, I like to use lots of visually stimulating materials to enhance learning towards set goals with clear outcomes. Recently I have become interested in a more holistic/creative/project based approach to learning, designed to support long term home schooling.

Experience

I am an NVQ Level 4 HLTA. I have worked for years supporting pupils and teaching at Warrender Primary School in Ruislip. I have training in teaching English as an additional language, working with children with Special Needs and Learning Difficulties and Supporting Learning in the National Curriculum. I have extensive experience of whole class teaching, small group interventions and one to one mentoring. I also provided a one to one home tutoring service to support children with reading, writing and maths at KS 1 & 2. I have recently become involved in home schooling children unable to attend school.
