Tailored Workshops: Public/private groups, schools, businesses, conferences, events and festivals

One to One Coaching: We will craft goals, lesson plans and approaches to working with the voice together. You decide!

Vocal Health Assessment: Exploring the voice through gentle exercises, improvisation and performance I will guide you to find a 'vocal prescription' to sing yourself to health and wellness.

Sound Healing: Therapeutic guided sound journeys for safe relaxation and emotional release. All sessions are confidential.

Speech Work: Techniques to develop diction, articulation, resonance and projection

My particular interest and specialism concerns the development of wellbeing through healthy vocalisation; applying a multidisciplinary holistic approach to working with the voice.

Over the last few years I have developed my own holistic vocal approach which is the '5 Elements of Voice Work'.
These are as follows:
Vocal Fire - Fire Element - Personal Creative Expression
Vocal Peace - Water Element - Spiritual Development
Vocal Remedy - Wood Element - Holistic Health & Physical Wellbeing
Vocal Freedom - Metal Element - Alchemy Through Trauma Release
Vocal Harmony - Earth Element - Community/Collaborative Music Making

Experience

I am a vocal practitioner with a particular interest in exploring the voice as a therapeutic, self-development tool. I explore wellbeing through healthy vocalisation; applying a multidisciplinary holistic approach to working with the voice. My own creative practice includes; songwriting, musical performance, collaboration and producing. My ongoing personal research on the voice examines the concept of a true voice and ways to explore personal identity through building a relationship with one’s own sound. Finally, in both private and community settings I support others through facilitating safe space for them to explore voice work.

Lise's CV

Songwriter and Producer at Truth Seeker - 2017 - present

This musical venture is still in the early stages of incubation. Although following the theme of live improvisatory performance, the emphasis of Truth Seeker is focussed on words and language. Future projects are to include electronic soundscapes to underpin free form spoken word, and lyrical poetry.

Songwriter and Producer at Dram For A Song - 2005 - present

This long-standing musical project offers live improvisatory performance. Lyrics are created in the moment; supported by a musical backdrop of either piano, guitar or buffalo drum. Each accompanying instrument offers a different musical flavour and inspires the creation of real-time stories. This musical project is a fusion of different influences and vocal techniques spanning; Classical, Jazz, Blues, Folk and specialist World styles.

Vocal Development Coach - 2014 - present

Tailor made one to one, group and Community voice work projects - exploring confidence building through vocalisation. This draws on a wide range of methodologies inspired by Alexander technique, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Feldenkreis, the work of Mantak Chia, Mongolian overtone singing, speech therapy, performance skills, songwriting and improvisation.

Voice Researcher - 2014 - present

Building on research skills developed during my Masters, I am now branching out from sociology more specifically into ethnomusicological and anthropological enquiry. I am interested in how individuals and communities use the voice as a therapeutic tool.

A Vocal Journey in Mongolia - June - October 2019.

This personal ethnomusicology research project took me to Mongolia for 4 months to study overtone throat singing. My self organised project coordinated cultural exchanges with nomadic herder families and teaching time with xöömii practitioners and masters. I was investigating the therapeutic potential of this particular form of vocalisation, and continued enquiry with my findings is ongoing.

Employment

Artist Liaison and Venue Rep Volunteer, Celtic Connections Festival - Glasgow - January 2020

This varied role involved direct contact with musicians performing at the festival; ensuring they received all practical information for travel arrangements, venue information and artists packs (stage passes, meal vouchers, PRS forms). Most importantly, being physically present on performance day and fielding communication between the artist and those providing direct support - organisers, venue staff, stage production and sound crews. Venue rep covered communications between the festival and external venues, ensuring all these elements flowed together.

Visiting Workshop Leader for Grow with Music Project, Music Broth - Glasgow - April 2019, February 2020

Tailor made workshop for 12-17 year olds with an incentive for them to gain a Level 3 SCQF award. Documentation and feedback was completed for this process. Workshop description: ‘Explore a range of approaches to vocal development and performance techniques; gain confidence and develop your own ‘true voice’.

Co-creating Jam Sessions for young people and adults, supporting informal group music making through encouraging confidence in performance development and improvisational techniques.

Auchinairn After School Care Forest School, Glasgow - Feb - May 2019

Supporting children 5-12 years old in outdoor environment. Devising play strategies and liaising with other staff to plan support roles for children with a variety of complex needs. Guiding exploration and development in line with Forest School principles. Responsibility to a small group - documenting and charting progress based on individual goals and retrieving feedback from children to inform support delivery.

Cover Vocal Tutor, Rookie Rockstars - March - May 2019

Supporting mental health and wellbeing charity through delivering vocal tutor cover for children aged 5+ in their music schools in Kirkintilloch, Cumbernauld and Falkirk.

Vocal Workshop Leader at Unifant Festival, Portugal - August 2017

I created and facilitated a tailor made 90 minute confidence building voice workshop titled ‘Free Your Voice’.

Music Facilitator for Earthsong Teen Area Dance Camp, Ireland - July 2017

I was part of an on-site team supporting young people; offering creative collaborative opportunities in music making, voice work and performance.

Youth Theatre Music Development Artist for PEEK (Possibilities for Each and Every Kid) - Nov 2015 - March 2016

Here I ran weekly songwriting workshops with members of PEEK's Youth Theatre Group. This involved working with a small group of young people, aged 13 - 21 assisting collaboratively on several compositions which were incorporated into their self-written theatre performance 'Engendered'.

Visiting Vocal Tutor for YWCA Scotland (The Young Women's Movement) - March - May 2015

As a visiting instructor for the YWCA I created and delivered a 7 week block of confidence building workshops called 'Find Your True Voice.' The aim of the workshops was to help people feel more confident in themselves as a result of being able to access a deeper level of their personal expression through singing and voice work. These workshops were audio recorded as part of my personal creative and academic project and were sampled and used to craft a piece of music inspired by the process.
