- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach violin (all levels), piano (beginners to grade 4) and music theory (up to grade 5).
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a BMus (Hons) in Music Performance (Violin) from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I also have ABRSM grade 8 in both piano and violin with distinction and grade 5 theory (distinction). I also have grade A in Music A level.
- How much do you charge?
For lessons at my home (violin and music theory) I charge £32 per hour, £16 for half hour and £24 for 45 minutes.
For lessons at your home, (violin, piano and music theory), I charge £40 per hour, £20 for half hour and £30 for 45 minutes.
- Where do you teach?
I teach violin and music theory at home, which is a 7 minute walk from Greenwich station, Cutty Sark DLR and Deptford station. It is also on the 188 and 199 bus routes. There is also parking available.
I also teach violin, piano and music theory lessons at students' homes in London/SE.
- When are you available?
I am flexible.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach children and adults. I teach violin from beginner to advanced level; piano from beginner to grade 4 and music theory up to grade 5.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM exams, Trinity Guildhall Exams and auditions. I am also very happy to help you prepare a special performance for your family/friends etc and teach those who would just like to work through repertoire and develop technique.
- What kind of experience do you have?
During my studies at music college, I chose to put emphasis on music education and led a variety of outreach projects and workshops for children in London and Kent. I was Head of Strings at Babington House School in Chislehurst where I taught individuals and ran the school's string orchestra. Since graduating, I have done freelance chamber group coaching for secondary school children in the South East area and I have had private pupils. I was also the Strings Mentor on the CLIC Sargent Summer Course 2015.
Honor is a violinist based in London. As a recording artist, recent work includes recording the soundtrack for J.K Rowling's 'The Casual Vacancy' on BBC 1 and recording solo violin for: Channel 4's drama 'No Offence'; BBC's Undercover and the recently released 'Bad Education' movie. Honor also featured on both Sam Smith's album, 'In the Lonely Hour' and also on Pink Floyd's album, 'The Endless River', which was released in October 2014. Both these albums reached number 1 in the UK album charts.
Honor has also played for BBC Radio 1 and 3 as well as having recorded for Atlantic records for Alesha Dixon's album, The Alesha Show.
An experienced performer, television appearances include playing at The Opening Ceremony of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup; The Grand National; The Derby; Popstar to Operastar; The National Lottery Show; QVC channel; The Alan Titchmarsh Show; The Graham Norton Show; the X Factor; Britain's Got Talent; Sunday Night at the London Palladium; Bruce's BBC Hall of Fame and performing in Italy for an internationally televised performance on Rai 3. Honor also recorded the soundtrack and appeared as an on-screen violinist for both episodes of the two-part Bafta Award winning Channel 4 drama Britz.
Honor is also a member of electric string quartet, Escala. She enjoys performing internationally with the quartet. Highlights have included being the first musical act to perform at the opening of the London Olympic Stadium in 2012; performing "Bittersweet Symphony" with Richard Ashcroft from The Verve and members of The Sex Pistols and Pink Floyd at the MPG Awards held in London in February 2016 and recording Escala's new album "Quadrasonic" which was released on 15th January 2016.
