I offer a free first consultation lesson in order to determine the requirements of the student.
- Where do you teach?
I can travel to the home of the student, or alternatively from my own residence in the south side of Glasgow. I am willing to travel anywhere within Glasgow, and potentially to surrounding places such as Paisley, Motherwell, Croy, Falkirk etc on negotiation.
- When are you available?
Currently available to teach mornings, afternoons and evenings on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays within term-time. Arrangements can also be made for teaching over the summer holidays.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I can tailor my lessons for all ages and abilities, young to old, beginner to advanced, whether for grades or for fun.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I can take students through Rockschool and RGT guitar and bass exams all the way up to grade 8 level. Additionally I can take interested students through ABRSM Grade 5 theory.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
All of my lessons are personally tailored to the student's individual goals, ambitions, and most importantly, musical tastes. Whether studying for important exams or learning at a more relaxed pace, the lessons will be mostly focussed around the student's preferred genre or playing style, without compromising on the educational content of the lessons.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Alongside private teaching, I have helped out in community music workshops, teaching guitar, bass and samba drumming, and my course at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland has included a large amount of teacher training.
I have a lot of first-hand knowledge and experience of the application of guitar playing to professional live situations, including rock gigs, big band concerts, and pit band work.
General musicianship: - a decade of guitar and bass playing, alongside other stringed instruments, and in-depth musical knowledge due to interest in composition.
As a composer I have had works performed by the likes of RCS Musiclab and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, ranging from chamber works, videogame music to a fully staged ballet performed last May to celebrate the centenary of Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring'.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
