Ian - Oakley - Music

About the lesson

All that's required from a student is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn. I carefully structure the lesson to the needs and requirements of the student.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

My main instrument is trumpet. I also teach other brass to Grade 5/6. In addition to 'musicianship' and music theory, I can prepare students for recitals and exams.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I studied at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall and I have an LTCL.

- How much do you charge?

I currently (2011) charge £27 for an hour and £22 for 40 mins. Discounts for group lessons and 10 lessons for the price of 9.

- Where do you teach?

I generally teach at the student's home, but am happy for them to visit me. I teach in the Milton Keynes area, Bedford area and Northampton area. I am currently developing an 'online' facility.

- When are you available?

I teach every day of the week, mainly in the evenings because it's more convenient for students. I also teach during the school holidays if there is a demand.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I don't believe age should be a barrier to learning. My youngest student is 9 and my 'most senior' is retired.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

Most of my students take ABRSM exams, but some opt for Trinity. I also prepare for Diplomas.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Under development.
