My approach depends almost entirely on the student and what they are hoping to get out of the sessions. Depending on what you want to learn or improve upon, we'll do things a little differently. However, I can be relied upon to remain consistent in a few ways:
1. I will always centre the student's experience, desires, and learning style. For example, if you wanted to improve your life drawing skills and you were a huge fan of skateboarding, I can promise that I wouldn't make you draw fruit and vases at your kitchen table. We'd be more likely to go to the skate park and sketch from life!
2. I will always strive to make our sessions as full of delight and wonder as possible. I'm up for almost anything.
3. I promise to challenge you. That's how you'll improve!
Together, we will come up with a course structure comprised of the elements you want to learn and improve upon, and the building blocks to help you get there. I find it helpful to break down the constituent parts of the final goal - often you discover some new skills along the way!
The levels at which I tutor include:
- AS/A Level
- University/job applications
- Adult learners
I look forward to hearing from you!
Hello! I have a degree from Cambridge in Architecture, and I'm currently pursuing an Illustration MA at Kingston School of Art. I graduate this summer and plan on launching my freelance illustration career! In the meantime, I'll be offering super exciting, inspiring art lessons to students of all ages, at all levels.
I have one-to-one experience teaching art and drawing techniques from age 5 up to 65. I have helped many students and friends prepare portfolios for job interviews and applications (and prepared a good few of my own). I am currently also a nanny to three little boys, which has rapidly taught me how to maintain a student's focus and attention - keep it fun!
I recently spent two years in New York designing and building large-scale art installations all over the world, I've travelled extensively, I love to rock climb and cycle, and I'm fascinated by all things creepy and crawly. I work in gouache, oil paint, ink, fineliner, pencil, and also digitally. I'm very adept at the Adobe Creative Suite and am happy to teach proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign too!
