I find the best way to teach students is to make the material relatable to the world around them; whether this be showing them how algebra can be extremely useful or explaining where their science knowledge could help change the world! I enjoy using lots of colour and diagrams in my tutoring as I have always found these techniques useful. I am also very organised and am happy to help students with revision timetables and planning.
I am a student from the South East of England, but am currently residing in London to attend Imperial College London, where I am studying Chemistry (MSci). I have been tutoring GCSE level students for two years and seen excellent results. I love science and maths but also have a passion for writing, drama and sports!
Profile
I am currently a student at Imperial College London, reading Chemistry (MSci) on a four year course. I enjoy learning new skills and interacting with many different people, and while I do love chemistry, I also enjoy writing and have a passion for creativity.
Experience
Front of house staff, the hand and sceptre, southborough — May 2018- November 2018:
Working at this country pub and restaurant I was able to learn waitressing skills and meet many new people. This job taught me a great deal in the way of communication, which I will carry forward into all my future engagements.
Volunteer sales assistant, Hospice in the weald shop, southborough — AUG 2017- January 2018:
As a sales assistant at this charity shop I was able to help the local community and interact with lots of people from all different backgrounds. I enjoyed being able to help with organisation and pricing of products, as well as advising customers and using the tills.
Volunteer classroom assistant, southborough primary school — January 2017 - April 2017:
As part of a school initiative I was fortunate enough to help out at a local primary school, where I did one-to-one reading sessions with year three students. I was also able to help the students with whole class activities and projects which I found very rewarding.
GCSE private tutor - September 2018 - June 2019:
Working as a private tutor was an extremely rewarding experience that allowed me to help younger students to achieve their full academic potential. Predominantly I tutored in mathematics and the sciences, however I also helped students with their English work. I very much enjoyed this work as I love sharing tips that worked for me at school with younger students.
