About the lesson
I do have some teaching guidelines which I follow, but to be honest, I don't have a pre-defined teaching methodology, as each case is different in terms of available resources/material, time, and the student's prior knowledge and objectives.
Therefore, I try to be flexible and the methodology/approach is agreed with the student on our first meeting/call.
In general, I like to have the material beforehand (at least 2 days before the session) and go through it to understand what is important and what is not.
I then make my notes and formula sheets and share them with the student so he/she can have all relevant information consolidated in a few easy-to-read documents.
Additionally, depending on material availability, I solve exercises and go through them with the student. Through the years, I have accumulated exercises and their solutions for many courses.

Hi, my name is Kyriacos and I have an undergraduate degree in Economics. Also, I have graduated with an MSc in Finance, in August 2019, and since September I've been working in banking.
I have been a tutor for the past three years and have worked with students studying at LSE, Imperial, UCL, Cambridge, and other universities, at both undergrad and postgrad levels. I can tutor on courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Financial/Management Accounting, Corporate Finance, Company Valuation, M&A/DCF/LBO Modelling, and many more.
If you think I can be of any help please message me, and if for any reason I am not able to assist you, I have a large network of tutors and can always recommend someone else depending on the subject.
Also, feel free to contact me for advice on applications and interviews as well.

Kyriacos is incredibly energetic and passionate about tutoring. He has a unique approach and a special way of explaining the material. We solved multiples examples, and questions together and everything turned out just fine. I am 100% sure he can help you as well.
Being a law student I found myself struggling with some of the more quantitative subjects I had to study for, such as corporate finance. Kyriacos in just two sessions pointed out in an extremely clear and precise way was important and what was not. In turn, Kyriakos' mentoring proved instrumental in me getting the exam results I was aiming for! As such, I have no hesitation to recommend Kyri most highly!
I was lucky to have Kyri as my tutor for a few of my undergrad accounting classes such as financial accounting and management accounting. I had some difficulties understanding the concepts but with the many examples and practice problems we went through with Kyri, I managed to get a good grasp of them. Amazing tutor and friend, I recommend it without a doubt.
I met Kyri back when we were undergrad students, and he was the person we would all go to for questions and clarifications. One of the best and most reliable tutors I’ve ever had!!
I would recommend Kyri to anyone!
I contacted Kyri for advice on job applications, CV and cover letter writing and was impressed with the end result, which took only a few hours. It definitely helped in my subsequent job applications.
If you need any job application advice, Kyri is the guy to go to!
Coming from a politics background, having to study some advanced economic concepts for my postgrad degree was a bit challenging. Kyri made it easier for me by pointing out and explaining the most important concepts. In this way, I was able to only focus on what was important, and didn’t waste any precious time on material irrelevant for my exams. Thanks a lot Kyriacos!
Kyriacos is a really professional and friendly tutor. I contacted him for the classes of M&A and financial risk management and he helped me with M&A. He quickly recommended another tutor for financial risk management because it wasn’t his strongest subject.
Also, we did a few sessions on M&A modelling as preparation for technical interviews. Really enjoyed the experience, thanks for everything Kyri!
Kyri really knew his material and was very passionate about it. He helped with my corporate finance exam, and his recommendations on important material were spot on, it saved me a lot of time. A very friendly person overall and I really enjoyed the tutoring experience!
Kyriacos is a very friendly and supportive tutor. He helped me understand important Economic and Finance concepts, and I managed to perform very well at my classes. He also helped me improve my CV and covering letter. You’re awesome mate!
I couldn’t be more grateful to Kyri. I contacted him two days before my exam and he managed to squeeze me in his schedule for two quicks recap sessions. Amazing tutor and friend!

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I think it was during high school that I first realized that I liked Economics, as it was the only class in which I was actually paying attention! I wasn't a particularly strong student in high school but for some reason, I had the highest grade in the Economics class. Now when it comes to private tutoring, I was introduced to it by a friend and just thought of giving it a try. I am still here and I am enjoying it so much!
Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach Economics, Finance, and Accounting modules, and also help students with interview preparation. The best part, however, is when the discussion begins from concepts of Economics and moves into the real world, the world economy, and global markets. I always enjoy discussing with students about what's happening in the world in terms of economics, how the markets are moving, and how these market events fit into what we learn at university. I have to admit that more often than not, I am positively surprised with students' knowledge of currents events and their commercial awareness.
Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
My elementary school teacher, Mr. George, would be that person. He was that kind of teacher who would play football with us during breaks, but also teach us in an effective and entertaining way. He also really believed in us, always telling us that we shouldn't worry, take our time and that things will turn out just fine. We still see him every now and then and it's always a special occasion. Because of that, I also try to be as supportive as possible when tutoring and go the extra mile in order to make sure the student understands what we talk about.
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
I believe that the most important thing is to make sure that the tutor and student feel comfortable talking to each other and interacting in general. Things shouldn't feel too formal or awkward. The two, tutor and student, should be like two friends who can freely talk to each other, agree on some stuff, disagree on some other, but with both ultimately having in mind that they are on the same team.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
One day, during my bachelor studies, what started as me explaining the lecture material to two of my university mates in an empty auditorium late in the afternoon, ended up being an (almost fully-fledged) lecture given by me to 15 of my university mates in that auditorium. It was an unforgettable experience that made me realize that I may be good at explaining stuff.
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
When it comes to advanced econometrics, I still struggle sometimes to understand what some of the research papers are doing in terms of methodologies and models used, and the results at which they arrive. What's even more challenging, is explaining the material to students who are new to statistics and econometrics. It really requires some creativity (and patience :p)!
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
To be honest I cannot really say that there is something I am 100% passionate about right now. I am, however, trying to be involved in things that I enjoy, and teaching/tutoring on Superprof is one of them.
What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?
I think what makes me a Superprof is the fact that I do not consider myself an expert in what I teach, but simply as a person with some intermediate to advanced level of understanding, and who wants to learn even more. And, by teaching and explaining, and through interacting with students, I always get a new perspective, learn something new and further expand my knowledge on the topic. As the quote goes: "In learning, you will teach, and in teaching, you will learn".
