I am very passionate about teaching others, and have been doing it alongside my studies for several years now.
I aim to develop skills of deduction and reasoning; striving to move away from pure memorisation and ensure a solid understanding about the subject within the student is secured, after which the application of said understanding is taught with the use of exam questions and interesting problems.
As a private tutor, I started in Year 11 and have been doing it regularly since, working with several GCSE students privately. For example, with one of my previous students I was able to assist in raising their result by four grades (from a 2 to a 6) in their GCSE science exams, from January to June; another of my science students received an 8-8 in Combined Science in 2019.
Moreover, for two years I regularly returned to my previous school in the role of an assistant in the science department, assisting in, and running lessons for GCSE students - something which I have enjoyed enormously. As a result of this several students achieved grades ranging from 7 - 9 in their science and maths examinations.
Outside of private tutoring, I have experience with larger groups also. I have taught lessons to groups of 30 (sometimes more) pupils; conducted large revision sessions and more.
My strengths are listening to and dissecting any student's problem and finding a clear way to provide a student with an intuitive understanding of the topic.

I am a university student of Mathematics.
I teach:
GCSE: Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, English Language, French
A-Level: Maths, Further Maths (Specialty: Edexcel: CP1/2, FS1/2, FM1/2, FP1/FP2), Chemistry (AQA)
I focus first and foremost on understanding, not memorisation (this comes later). My style is to teach through asking questions, and this I do not feel is a one way street, the student is also encouraged to probe away in order to reach a conclusion for themselves. I try to teach a student the qualities of, and then to prioritise, deduction and reasoning, something I have found that is becoming ever more important in current exams. I strive to build confidence in a student by securing knowledge and understanding and then frequently applying this to new scenarios, including independent work designed for strong consolidation, and interesting extension. This of course includes inspiring an interest in the subject at hand, attempting to help the student recognise how truly fun learning such useful subjects can be, especially in noticing how they relate to daily life.
I am extremely enthusiastic about the subjects I have chosen to teach, mainly because I find them so interesting and being able to spread such an interest is a great pleasure of mine.

Kai is an excellent tutor and mentor. He has helped me a lot with understanding harder topics of A Level maths including Calculus and how it can be used to derive many physical concepts in kinematics. With his expertise , I have seen marked improvements in my results. He is very friendly, offers excellent exam orientated advice and has an amazing flair and passion for teaching mathematics. I would definitely recommend Kai as an A Level Maths tutor.
Kai is an exceptional teacher. He always explains things in a clear and relevant way, and makes sure that everyone understands before moving on. He always sets questions that are relevant to what might come up in an exam. He is a great example as a teacher!
Kai is a highly talented student. During Year 11, Kai tutored a large number of his peer groups in both Science and Maths. He is very enthusiastic and knows his subject well.
All throughout year 11 Kai helped me massively with my GCSE's. Kai always got the highest grades, in all subjects, all the time. However, this never stopped him from helping anyone who asked for it. For me in particular, at the end of year 10 I was told that I was going to sit foundation papers in my mats GCSE. I had very little confidence that any other outcome was possible. But Kai helped me so much that by the end of year 11, not only was I sitting Higher paper but, I have absolute confidence now to achieve a grade 8 come redults day. That dramatic improvement in such a short time I owe chiefly to Kai. That all goes without mention of the other subjects he helped not only me with; the entite school, all in the midst of his own final exams. Therefore, if there was ever a tutor I would recommend to anyone, in any circumstance: it would be Kai.
