I base my classes on personal experience, knowledge learnt at university and for those who are doing Design & Technology Textiles GCSE I follow the AQA revision guide which covers the basic knowledge I already teach such as fabrics, finishes, sewing, product development, production, CAD/Cam etc.
I have 3 years production experience having worked as a Production Assistant and Merchandiser. I have worked for wholesale suppliers dealing with well known High Street retailers such as Primark, New Look, TK Maxx, Dorothy Perkins, Tesco F&F, Sainsbury’s TU (to name but a few). My most recent and last production role, I worked for Hackett London - sportswear division. I also obtained my degree at the London College of Fashion and studied International Fashion Production Management. I am currently due to start my teacher training this September 2020 in Design & Technology Textiles in the hope of inspiring many young students who may want to pursue a career in the fashion industry.
I have taught Kathleen myself for two years during her university course and Kathleen was one of my brightest students. She is analytical, methodological and very organised. She has great experience in the industry and is always very hard working.
This is paired with a huge sense of care for others and putting everyone else ahead of her. I would very highly recommend Kathleen!
Kathleen is compassionate but honest, knowledgeable yet always willing to help and truly passionate about the industry.
As a colleague I felt I could approach her about anything and knew that I would be met with nothing but kindness, honesty and truly helpful advice. Her knowledge on the fashion and textile industry is inspiring and I think that teaching is the best use of her skills both professionally and personally.
