I use various teaching methods, and always tailor my lessons to my student's needs and abilities. I teach contemporary vocals, and classical and applied music theory, basing my vocal lessons on building healthy habits, essential styles, practical performance, and harmony and sight reading (if desired). Theory lessons are available from beginner level, or as additional top-up lessons for school, university or exam preparation.
I am a professional vocalist and singing/music theory teacher specialising in vocal health, skills development, classical/applied music theory and live performance. I have an honours degree in Professional Musicianship, 5 years of experience in teaching, and over a decade of experience in live performance.
Cancellations within 24 hours of the lesson time will be non-refundable.

Perfect! Shannon really helped my daughter to gain confidence with her singing and was very patient and understanding when helping her to prepare for auditions.
Excellent! Shannon listens and communicates well.
Shannon is a methodical and understanding teacher. She is naturally nurturing when it comes to the potential she sees in her student and is phenomenal at drawing it out. She inspires confidence and understands that no two students think and learn alike. I know she is highly qualified, very professional, trustworthy, fun and humorous. She brings her subject to life with passion. I would recommend her to anyone. I have known her many years and have benefited years more from her insights into professional vocals and music theory. As a fellow tutor, I trust her judgement and background on these subjects and would definitely listen very carefully If she has any insight to add to my own. I have huge respect for her, her knowledge and her experience in her field.
Shannon Gwilt is a naturally gifted teacher with a knack of explaining music theory so that it makes practical sense. She also is an experienced and effective vocal coach.... Kerry Nieuwoudt.
She is extremely knowledgeable in what she does and I have never met someone more passionate than her about music and about teaching music. She really has a unique way to make learning fun and I thoroughly enjoy every minute of my lessons with her, I hope you will too!
