For primary level I work to the syllabus and aim to go along side what they are being taught in school to help them to fully understand a topic if they are struggling or to stretch them beyond what they are currently studying.
For secondary I work with the GCSE specification and the revision guides - we have even written a revision programme that covers everything needed to ensure no bits of the course are missed. This is then supplemented by past paper practice and model solutions.
For IB I work with the text book to work through all the concepts and questions and then work through all the past papers along the way.
I aim to be approachable so that students feel they comfortable to try all questions and I put a lot of emphasis on building confidence in students so they feel happier in their school maths to answer questions and ask when they are stick and to believe in their maths. I like to make them like maths rather that stick to the common thoughts on maths especially girls to show them that there are so many opportunities for girls talented in maths.
I have also tutored adults and resit students working in exactly the same way.
I have always loved maths and having obtained a First in Maths from Nottingham University I went to work for Ernst and Young and gained my Chartered Accountant status. Having found there was simply not enough maths in accountancy I begun to tutor and have loved inspiring and helping people on their journey through maths from Primary right up to GCSE and IB standard level. I love the challenge of finding the right way to help each individual to click with maths and help them through their exams.
