I'm extremely passionate about architectural education. I was educated myself at numerous world-class institutions, gaining three first class degrees and winning a number of awards for my own academic projects. I have private tutoring and guest critic experience both here in the UK and overseas. Since graduating my Masters in 2010 and becoming a chartered Architect in 2014 I have retained a connection to academia through my pedagogical practice and through attending postgraduate summer schools and masterclasses around the world (Bartlett UCL, AA, RMIT, Berlage TU Delft, FSA, Harvard, MIT, ETH).
My purpose as a mentor is really to make you feel confident in your ideas and empowered with the requisite skills that you no longer feel the need to seek out help and assistance. Over the past 5 years I have tutored students of all levels from 10 years old realising his playful imagination in sketchup, to undergraduates producing sets of orthographic drawings and renders/visualisations to urban design PhD candidates with complex and collaborative 3D BIM schemes.
In addition, I have knowledge and experience of practically all architectural computer software (Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, SketchUp Pro, Microstation, Vectorworks, Vray, Enscape), I have advanced skills of physical model making and digital fabrication. I have experience working in professional model shops in Manchester and Vancouver and the digital fabrication labs at TU Delft and the Architectural Association in London.
Since 2005, Andrew has gained over six years professional experience working internationally within twelve different cities across six continents, from collaborating directly alongside sole practitioners to working in offices with over 200 staff. Andrew is a skilled and perceptive trained architect. In fact I was his landlord in the year when he obtained his MA and qualified as a 'full' architect. He worked hard on his studies and as he himself has had to overcome the challenges of ADHD (which he was not diagnosed with until he was at university) he is sympathetic to anyone with learning difficulties. However do not expect him to give you an easy ride as a tutor: he is passionate about his subject and expects you to share his commitment to help you!
