My methodology can be summarised as follows:
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
- Prepare material and classwork for activities.
- Prepare students for later years by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
I am currently a PhD student at University of Leeds in Italian Studies. I previously got my Bachelor's in Humanities and my Master's in Italian Studies, both at Italian Institutions and with First-class honours.
While my interests are vast, I have always found language and literary studies to provide a meaningful methodological foundation.
My undergraduate degree in Humanities (Italian and Latin) and my two-years Masters in Italian Studies, both awarded with First-class honours, have supplied her with the knowledge and skills necessary to help students get significant results.
Not only the fact that I am an Italian native speaker but also my study at Italian Institutions have given me an extensive knowledge of the Italian language, literature and culture, and the tools to analyse the language according to structures, rhetoric, lexicon and style. Furthermore, my study of Latin, Linguistics and Glottology gave me the opportunity to understand the diachronic development of the Italian language from its origins. This allows me to have the essential skills to adapt teaching to meet the needs and interests of the students.
Working in a team and so the collaboration between the tutor/teacher and the students is crucial in order to obtain effective results. This would be a mutual enrichment for both parts and a way to know and understand different cultural backgrounds.
My experience in the field of teaching includes being a private tutor in many subjects (Italian, Latin, History, Geography, English and Mathematics) for primary, middle-school, high-school students since 2013. Moreover, during my graduate studies, I had the chance to undertake an internship at an Italian high school, which gave me the enriching opportunity to observe closely the work of the teachers, acquiring in the classroom some fundamental aspects and features of this job. The experience included conducting lessons, agreed with the teachers, marking papers and homework and being part of the school staff.
I believe that the lessons that mix the technical, syntactic, grammatical aspects with funnier activities, such as readings in language, undertaking discussions about culture and lifestyle, or on the evolution of the language, are the most effective ones. The aim of the lesson would be double: on the one hand, it allows to acquire the main structures of the language, and on the other hand, it gives the chance to intrigue and develop curiosity for the Italian culture and literature.
Camilla is an energetic and passionate teacher. What I mostly appreciated about her lessons is that you can learn not just the language, but also the Italian culture, history and curiosities. I'd highly recommend her!
Camilla has a strong preparation and she will customize your lesson with any level you're at. She is also likeable and has the ability to put you at ease, allowing you to fully immerse in the language.
Camilla is a native Italian who has an extended knowledge in language studies. Having studied Italian and Latin during her undergraduate and graduate degrees, devoting herself to learning as much as possible, she acquired a strong methodology that allows you to learn the Italian language in a very effective way. She has strong communication skills which make her more than qualified to be an Italian tutor; furthermore, her likeable personality makes her lessons even fun. Whether you are a beginner or you want to improve your Italian, I'd definitely recommend Camilla.
Whenever I try to learn something new I always fear to be judged. This is the reason why I am usually quite nervous in front of teachers, but with Camilla it’s a whole other story.
She is so patient and supportive. Moreover every time I make a mistake she gives me feedbacks without any pressure, so that the whole thing becomes helpful and even funny.
She is really dedicated to her work and her lessons have a good balance between grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing.
I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Italian at any levels, as Camilla personalises her classes depending on the student.
Thanks to her I have improved my confidence in the Italian language so much!
