I use my laptop to speak to you via Skype or a Facebook video call.
Before the lesson starts I send any documents to you, so you can either print them or have them on screen during the lesson. Likewise any audio files, so that you can play them. I use a write and wipe board to write vocabulary, comments etc during the lesson and you can see it via the camera and make notes.
You are most welcome to record the lesson for your own revision purposes.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
With recent changes to the way in which languages are examined in English schools, particularly at GCSE which is now all examination, it is more important than ever that you have a really good grasp of the grammar of the language(s) you are learning. This can be fun and empowering and can enable you to really feel confident in your abilities. Students of English as a foreign language face difficult exams (IELTS & Cambridge exams). These can be achieved with the right preparation.
I know that I can make a real difference to both your understanding and your confidence. No question is ever too silly, and I know exactly what it feels like to learn, to be out of my comfort zone, and to sit in that exam hall.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have taught for nearly 30 years (13 as a Head of Dept). I teach German to all levels and exams (including at a local university), French and Spanish to GCSE. I also teach English as a foreign language, and offer IELTS & cambridge exam preparation as well as English for Academic Purposes. I have a lot of experience with different examination boards at GCSE and A level ( I am an examiner for 2 boards and an NVQ assessor for Business German and French) and have conducted hundreds of speaking tests at GCSE and A level. I have taught students from Key Stage 2 to adults and of a wide range of abilities and currently teach at a local university. I have taught GCSE English Language and Literature to UK students.
