My teaching method is fun and enjoyable adopting Japanese ethics and values. With my help you will immerse not only into the Japanese language sector, but in the culture and history one too. Every session I will test your ability to write kanjis and Japanese words through very interactive quizzes. After each session you will acquire valuable knowledge of both Japanese (words and grammar), history&culture.

Skills & Interests:
Valuable communication skills gained through public speaking from my monthly address, both in English and Japanese; experience as a volunteer at a festival in Japan, where I had the chance to interact with both Japanese and Chinese customers as well as with my colleagues
Interests: I am keen to discover new preoccupies and cultures, and the contact with Japan, has given me the opportunity to understand how culture is connected to a series of social, political, economic and historical developments; Growing up in a mixed-nationality family whilst living in a multilingual Transylvanian city has inspired me to push myself to study internationally at a prestigious British university
Language Skills: English C1 (IELTS), Japanese (advanced), German (intermediate), Romanian (native), Chinese (beginner)
Extra-curricular Activities
• AN ACHIEVEMENT: Durham University speech contest JFL: Wishing to develop my public speaking skills in Japanese I entered a department-wide competition to present on a topic of my choice. I achieved second prize for my presentation. (2019)
• Taiwan Culture and Tour Camp: During this one-month camp I was fully immersed in the Taiwanese lifestyle, living with an authentic Taiwanese host family who helped teach me some basic Mandarin and compress 100 years of culture into one month. (2018)
• Interact Club Tirgu-Mures: I was a member of a volunteer organisation where I raised money and supported children and families in need with food supplies (2016-2019)
• International Shodo Exhibition: The Japanese influence on my already well-established interest in painting and literature broadened my horizons and enthused me to enter a piece for an international calligraphy contest in Osaka (2017)

Sarah is a kind, passionate and patient tutor who will do her best to help her Japanese students get the best possible results
She is very knowledgeable about her subject. She has lived in Japan and studies Japanese at Durham. Since she has this experience she can guide you better and give you a more in-depth analysis of your work and how your Japanese can seem more authentic.
I'm Sarah's Chinese tutoring volunteer, as I know she majored in Japanese literature and minored in Chinese at Durham University. She has a great aptitude and passion for language studying, and she summed up a set of effective learning methods in the process of learning multiple languages. As an excellent multilingual learner, she can empathize with the difficulties Japanese learners face and provide more effective help.
