About Jennah
- What kind of experience do you have?
Regarding teaching experience, I have assisted at a summer residential music course for children aged 7-14 in Jersey teaching theory and coaching various ensembles. I have also taught flute and theory privately to young children, helping those who want to achieve Grade 5 theory to progress onto higher grades.
Regarding performing experience, I am experienced in all genres ranging from classical to pop. Having done a 4 year degree performance course in classical flute & piccolo, I have had plenty of performing experience in symphonic, and chamber settings. In the past I have deputised on the Phantom of the Opera UK tour and have more recently been on the Lexus commercial "Swarm" on Piccolo. I was also guest principal flute of the National Symphony Orchestra on the Alfie Boe tour. I have also played for Nicola Benedetti, Lesley Garrett & Alison Balsom, winner of the 2013 Classical Brit Awards.
I have played in NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra) and more recently The Chaos Orchestra, which has performed at the London Jazz Festival and are releasing an album in early 2014.
As well as flute and piccolo, I also play ethnic flutes such as the bansuri, chinese xiao and dizi.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I don't have one at the moment but if required I will apply.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with Anna Noakes, Anna Pope and Alan Baker (piccolo)
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Musician's Union
- Tell me about some of your current students.
The students I have love having their lessons. Some of them are so keen that they practice in the mornings before school - without being asked!
Recently, with some of my beginners, I have been arranging their favourite pop tunes for them to play as I think it is always important to play something that you actually enjoy, so if you are interested in having some lessons and there is something you really want to play, I will do my best to create it for you.
