Super Prof

About the lesson
I'm a friendly, experienced and patient tutor. I aim to help students achieve their potential through stimulating lessons which are tailored to their individual needs and which give them confidence in the subject.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach English and French, and can also help specifically with creative writing, grammar and essay writing. I teach French up to GCSE and English up to A-level.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a 2:1 MA (Hons) degree in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. I also achieved 3 As at A-level, 5 As at AS-level, and 7 A*s, 3 As and a B at GCSE.
- How much do you charge?
I'm happy to teach at the student's home, so I usually charge £30-£35/hour (dependent on journey time), unless the student lives very nearby. Skype lessons are £25/hour, as are lessons at my flat.
- Where do you teach?
I live in Thornton Heath, Surrey (Greater London), so am able to teach anywhere within a reasonable (20 minute) driving distance. That includes areas such as Croydon, Crystal Palace, Mitcham and Mitcham Eastfields, Norbury, Streatham, Norwood and Selhurst. I'm also happy to teach anywhere which can be easily reached by train, such as Clapham Junction or Balham. I am happy to teach at the student's home, at my flat or via Skype.
- When are you available?
Due to my freelance work I can teach in the morning, afternoon or early evenings on weekdays, on Saturdays (sometimes) and on Sundays. Please contact me for specific times and dates.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach children aged 10-18.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for GCSE, A-level, 11+, Common Entrance and Scholarship exams.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I would start with an introductory Skype chat where I could talk to the pupil and the parent(s) to see what they want to achieve from the sessions. I would then tailor a lesson programme which would address the student's needs. I would send any work exercises via email with clear instructions. I would then go through the work with the student during a virtual lesson on Skype, help them with any problems they might have and send any additional comments, notes or reading material via email.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'll respond to any emails as quickly as possible, and will happily send you my CV or references should you wish to see them.

Yes I do.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Jon taught me for my A-Level English exam and helped me get a B, which I was really happy with. His lessons were fun, interesting and easy to understand, and really helped me get my head around Shakespeare. Thanks!
Jon has an excellent, scholarly knowledge of English literature. Combined with his extensive experience of exam requirements in both English GCSE papers, this makes him a most effective coach.
