Julia - Regent's Park - Music Theory

Methodology

Hello! My name is Julia and i'm a professional freelance violinist based in London. I would like to widen my private pupil base and would love to teach you! Please get in touch with any enquiries.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach the violin at any standard and can also put pupils forward for exams. I lso teach music theory that goes hand in hand with learning any instrument, chamber music and beginner/intermediate piano.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

After leaving music school I gained a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music where I completed my Bachelor of Music with honours and my Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction. Whilst at the Academy I also gained my LRAM teaching licentiate. I run a successful string ensemble called the Sorelli Ensemble and perform regularly throughout the UK.

- How much do you charge?

My flat fees are:
£40/hr - violin
£40/hr - piano
£35/hr - chamber music
£40/hr - music theory

I charge £25/half hour lessons.

- Where do you teach?

I live in Central London and would teach at home or travel to you. I am willing to travel to North, West central and East central London.

- When are you available?

I am flexible with my time and will do my best to work around preferences.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I can teach beginner to advanced violin, beginner to intermediate piano, beginner to advanced music theory and all standards of chamber music.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I usually prepare my students for the ABRSM exams.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

From experience, I know how important it is to have a good teacher to start with. I have had both bad and good experiences and learned something from them all. I try and inspire my pupils as best as I can and encourage them to work hard but I don't believe in pushing students, the work and want to play has to come from them.

Experience

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been playing and performing for 20 years and privately teaching for 10 of them.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a valid DBS Certificate.

- Where and with whom did you train?

Royal Academy of Music with Maurice Hasson

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

The Strings Club
Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra

- Tell me about some of your current students.

I run the Intermidiate and advanced string ensemble at The Strings Club. Average age in this is 8yrs old. My youngest student is 5 and has been learning for 5 months now. She is starting to prepare for the Pre Preparatory ABRSM exam.
