I am passionate about languages and am a friendly, enthusiastic tutor.
I have a lot of ideas about how to solve problems and if you need better grades, I can help!
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a First Class degree in modern languages and a PGCE.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £24 for GCSE and £25 for A level. I do not travel to students but would be willing to work online for orals.
- Where do you teach?
I tutor at home in Salisbury, Wiltshire. My students normally come from the city and the surrounding area but some come from as far away as Devizes, Warminster, Mere or Fordingbridge.
- When are you available?
I am available every day including weekends and holidays.
I take occasional holidays but they do not coincide with school holidays (so that private school pupils and university students can come during their holidays).
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I occasionally teach for CE but the majority of my students are preparing for GCSE or A level examinations. A few are studying at university.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online tutoring is possible if we can use a book/ a relatively small number of materials (mainly non-school students). It works well for preparation for oral exams but is not ideal for students who need to work on examination papers, listening exercises etc.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you feel you need better grades or want to learn a language out of school, please contact me! I can arrange for you to take your examinations at a private agency in Southampton if you would like to do a language outside school.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have worked as a teacher at a sixth form college, have taught EFL in Germany and have been tutoring languages for 12 years now.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up-to-date CRB.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Most of my students come from the local grammar schools (mainly GCSE students and sixth formers) or from private schools (at weekends and during the holidays). They enjoy their lessons and most of them come to share my enthusiasm!
