About the lesson

I am a native German speaker and, having studied in the UK for a BA and MA in Classics and Ancient History, I possess excellent oral and written communication skills in both languages.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach German, my native tongue, and Classics/Ancient History at all levels. I am furthermore available for proofreading and translations.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I hold a MA (Distinction) and BA Hons (First Class) in Classics and Ancient History from the University of Manchester. In addition, I have studied Latin to advanced level and possess therefore a very good understanding of grammar in general.

- How much do you charge?

I generally charge £20 per hour per student for German and £25 for subjects related to ancient history. I am prepared to lower the price for a series of lessons.
The initial consultation is for free in order to establish that I meet the student's needs and to give the student the chance to get to know me.
I may charge for travel expenses, depending on location.

- Where do you teach?

I teach at my premises or the student's home/office. I primarily teach in Manchester, but could also travel within the region of Greater Manchester.

- When are you available?

I am quite flexible and my availability varies throughout the year. I can usually do weekdays, evenings or weekends. Please feel free to contact me for further information.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I enjoy teaching German or Ancient History at all levels, from beginners to advanced. I am furthermore happy to teach German to individuals wishing to learn the language for fun, travel or business.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I understand how hard and frustrating it can be to learn a foreign language. But being able to speak another language is so rewarding! Thus, I hope to convey some of my passion for teaching German to you and will try to make the lessons as enjoyable and appropriate to your knowledge as possible.

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have 2 years experience as a language assistant for students of A-level German, in private tuition for students of different levels and ages, and in translating and proofreading. Furthermore, I possess experience in teaching Ancient History/Archaeology at a Higher Education Institution.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I hold an enhanced CRB disclosure certificate (01/04/2011).
