The results my students have achieved in LAMDA speech and drama exams reflect my good teaching ability, communication and interpersonal skills. These results also reflect my enjoyment of working with young people and seeing them flourish in their public speaking abilities, and as confident young individuals.
I am a highly experienced drama teacher, with a background in professional acting. My specialist expertise has been in Lamda Speech and Drama exams for the last ten years, which includes modules on Acting, Public Speaking, Verse and Prose, Reading for Performance and Shakespeare, entering students into Lamda exams, leading to recognised Lamda qualifications. I have 100% pass rates in Lamda Speech and Drama examinations, 80% with distinctions. I have Implemented and built new Lamda Speech and Drama classes at 2 schools into regular, popular, oversubscribed classes. I have also showcased annual work in schools for parents. I can quickly establish a positive rapport with students.
Having worked in the field of drama as a professional actor myself, I have the ability to prepare students for auditions for professional stage and television projects, and for entry to conservatoire training. I have a strong knowledge of audition techniques and audition pieces and different audition scenarios and believe I can support students to a high level. My Professional Actor work included TV roles in- The Office, Silent Witness, ‘My Hero, and She’s Out. I also worked in film for directors including Ken Loach. Drama Teacher. 2000 – present.
My role has involved teaching all aspects of Drama to children within the age ranges 4 to 18. This includes teaching improvisation, characterisation, script reading, script analysis, scriptwriting, devising plots, drama exercises such as breathing and warm-ups, hot seating, posture and public speaking. This is in preparation for public performances and oratories.
Also includes planning and preparation of all teaching resources and materials. Writing schemes of work for courses, ensuring all elements of specifications are covered in the time allowed and deadlines are met. Adapting resources to meet the specific needs of individual schools and pupils. Requires excellent knowledge of a number of different specifications. Organisational abilities, keeping diary and timetable, adapting to different schools and teaching environments.

The role involves one to one intensive tuition to students both in schools and in their own homes. This includes Lamda Speech and Drama graded exams (GCSE and A level equivalent) and GCSE Drama. Also includes preparation for GCSE English Language and Literature examinations. Covering various Shakespeare and classic plays and novels. Practice examination papers, working on question answering technique and timing. Interpreting mark schemes for students, planning progression.
Various acting roles, both in theatre and television.
