I am a Physics and Mathematics teacher and tutor. I am very enthusiastic about the subjects, something that I always share with my students. I have had experience teaching and tutoring in various forms since 2009.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I studied Physics with Theoretical Physics in Imperial College London and then completed a PhD in Theory and Simulation of Materials, also at Imperial College London. I am also currently studying for a Mathematics BSc through Open University.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £80 per hour for A Level.
- Where do you teach?
I am able to travel to the students' home.
- When are you available?
I am available during the week at any time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
A Level (16+)
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
A Level, International A Level, IB, Pre-U.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Since I was a school student, I always paid very close attention to details and strove to obtain full understanding of concepts in Physics and Mathematics. This has shaped my teaching style to be oriented towards real and deep understanding, rather than giving students a set of mechanistic procedures.
At the same time, I am fully aware of the importance of grades and I believe teachers should prepare students for assessments by addressing exam technique when necessary. I have experience with OCR, Edexcel, AQA, Pre-U and IB for both Physics and Mathematics, and rigorously analyse assessments and past papers to aid students in achieving the best grades possible.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been working as a teacher of Physics and/or Mathematics since April 2014, and have a broad range of experiences, both in the state and the independent sector. Since 2009 I have been involved in tutoring first year University students in Mathematics, as well as school students in Physics and Mathematics. The school I worked at most recently was Latymer Upper School, where I had the role of Teacher of Physics and Mathematics.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, the most recent DBS is from Latymer Upper School, where I worked as a teacher of Physics and Mathematics.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Students that I have either tutored or taught in school have given me excellent feedback, particularly regarding my love and enthusiasm for my subjects and my ability to constantly motivate them to tackle challenges in the process of becoming good Physicists and Mathematicians.
• PhD in Physics; MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics
• PGCE, QTS
• I have a recent DBS from Latymer Upper School
I found the tutoring very productive and efficient, targeting the areas of least confidence very effectively. It really helped me for my exams and overall the sessions and whole experience was extremely helpful and I strongly recommend Lampros as a physics tutor.
