Laura - Neasden - Chamber Music

Methodology

Scientists have discovered that music is good for the brain. Musical training helps concentration skills, memory, social skills and independent learning, and most importantly, its fun!

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

Cello from Beginner to Grade 8, Piano Beginner to Grade 8.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am currently a Final Year student, principally studying Cello but I am also a Second Study pianist at the Royal Academy of Music in London. I'm working towards a BMus degree and my LRAM qualification in teaching.

- How much do you charge?

£25 an hour for piano and cello. For younger students, half an hour would be more suitable at £15.

- Where do you teach?

Classes may be taken either at the students address or at my studio in Beaufort Park, Colindale. I currently have a large student intake in the Harringay area, although I live in Colindale. I am however willing to travel to the majority of London.

- When are you available?

At the moment I am a student at the Royal Academy of Music. Therefore, I am fairly flexible, though I feel it is better for pupils to have a regular weekly slot. This can be arranged as and when is suitable to you, just contact me and we can work out the best time for you.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I can teach 5-105(!), Beginner to Grade 8. My current students vary-I teach mainly children but I now have a healthy class of adults.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I am able to prepare students for Graded Music Examinations from both ABRSM and TrinityGuildhall syllabi.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Please do contact me if you have any questions, I'll be more than willing to help!

Experience

- What kind of experience do you have?

I am and experienced cello and piano teacher, the youngest is 5, and I have a number of adult students. I have recently been appointed a supply teacher for Sutton County Music Service, which enables me to have a recognised position, and still teach privately.
I was Principal cello of the National Youth Orchestra in 2010, and also a member of National Childrens Orchestra for 6 years. Currently I am an alumni helper for the children of the Regional Orchestra of NCO. I've also been a member of staff on several school choir tours to Europe, and have worked creatively with the students of a Special Needs school.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

I have a CRB check, this document can be shown if needed.

- Where and with whom did you train?

Royal Academy of Music (2010-2014, still enrolled)

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current student's I teach mainly after school. I also teach on weekends, as well as evenings for the adults.
