Laura - Woolwich - Music

Methodology

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach flute and also teach music theory within the lessons to help speed up development on the flute. These lessons can be modified to aid those studying for GCSE or A-Level music (or equivalent). I teach recorder also. I was joint-first study recorder and flute until I went to music college and chose to pursue flute.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Attended:
Birmingham Conservatoire Junior School (2002-3); Awarded a scholarship.
Chethams School of Music (2003-5);
Royal Northern College of Music (2005-7). Awarded a scholarship then a Diploma;
Trinity College of Music (2007-8).

- How much do you charge?

Fee: £25 hour

- Where do you teach?

Lessons available at your home or my house in Charlton SE7. I will travel to you free of charge (SE only. For other postcodes a small fee may be added).

- When are you available?

I am available weekday afternoons and evenings for lessons and any time on weekends. I am rapidly running out of available slots for teaching so please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in learning!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and abilities, adults and children, from beginners to advanced players. Every student I teach will learn from different tutor books and different styles of music. I tailor my teaching to the needs and interests of each individual.

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I currently have 14 students, 5 of which are private students that I teach at their homes. They all contacted me through The Tutor Pages.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes I have an enhanced CRB certificate dated September 2008.

- Where and with whom did you train?

Previous teachers include:
Peter Lloyd, Michael Cox, Lynda Coffin and Wissam Boustany.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

I am 2nd flute in Bampton Classical Opera. I have toured as a freelance orchestral player with many orchestras over the years. I have toured Canada, Hungary, France, Germany and Italy to name a few.
