Having been fortunate enough to have had great music teachers, I know the importance of getting it right from the start! I am an engaging and imaginative teacher, and pride myself on tailoring my lessons to suit the individual needs of my pupils. I believe that learning music should be fun, challenging and build confidence, and I teach with this ethos in mind.
I am based in South London, and will travel in order to teach in the comfort of your own home!
TEACHING EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
*I am an excellent communicator with children (of all ages!) I have an innate ability to encourage and inspire.
*I have taught on a one-to-one basis, as well as planning and running music workshops in primary schools and community festivals.
*I have worked for both the Royal Greenwich Music Hub and Blackheath Conservatoire as a teaching assistant, helping groups of children to improve their confidence and to have fun through learning music.
I am currently studying at violin performance at third level under Andrew Sherwood, professor of violin at Trinity Laban.. I have been playing the violin for ten years, achieving distinction at grade eight, and a diploma from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
I am Grade 8 standard on the piano, and teach classical piano up to grade 4. I aim to make piano fun to learn and I see key-board skills as important to and useful
in almost any genre of music, greatly enhancing the learner's understanding of music theory.
Folk fiddle was where I began. I was steeped in traditional Irish playing and was taught by acclaimed Irish fiddle players, Paul Bradley and Donal O’Connor. I believe the best way to encourage people to learn music is to enable them to explore whichever musical genres that inspire them! Given that folk music is an aural tradition, I am equally comfortable teaching Irish and Scottish music by ear or by reading.

I am currently studying for a BMus degree at Goldsmiths, University of London. I have been awarded a Dimploma in Higher Education in Performance following my two years of study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. As well as strengthening my love of music, education and the arts, this training has helped me to develop into the disciplined, flexible, proactive person I am today.
