I’m a left-handed jazz guitar player currently studying Jazz at Middlesex University.
I’m passionate about teaching and have a huge amount of material gathered throughout my 7 years of study. I’m most prepared to teach jazz guitar, jazz harmony & theory, ear training and sight reading. I also can teach about other music styles like Brazilian music (samba, choro and bossa nova), rock, blues, funk and pop.
My aim is to get my students to understand and reach their goals and to help them find their personal musical language.
Having begun my musical endeavours at the age of 14, I have since been part of several projects of various genres. I began studying jazz at the age of 22 at a jazz school in Oporto, where I studied jazz guitar, jazz improvisation techniques, jazz harmony, and jazz combo. After being 2 years in jazz schools I studied jazz harmony, theory, ear training and composition on one-to-one lessons for 5 years with the double bass player Nuno Campos. During that period, I formed two jazz bands for weekly residencies at several hotels in Oporto and started teaching guitar.
I have completed the one year course for external students of ear training and jazz harmony & arrangements with outstanding grades at the music university of Oporto (ESMAE)
Eventually my career lead me to travel to London to further expand my musical skills at the Jazz course of Middlesex University. In London, I perform with two jazz bands, one jazz big band, one Latin ensemble and one Bossa Nova duo
