My style is friendly and relaxed whilst aiming to maintain structured learning objectives. I have developed lesson plans that range from Essay Writing and Structuring, Grammatical Practice to Debate and Public Speaking. Often, my lessons are designed to unite a piece of literature with informed historical contexts, philosophy and literary theory.
My teaching method is described as casual, but strict enough on the basis of the student fully understanding the material before them. I like to include fun activities, games and videos to watch and talk about. I include a lot of group conversations in my teaching style so that everyone is on the same page and everyone is included.
My teaching method is to share a key word: e.g. 'hyperbole' and give examples on how you would use that particular word or phrase in a sentence. Then I would implement a discussion about what this word means to that individual.
For most students the 'right' and 'wrong' method of answering a question in literature isn't clear. My method is to teach students to identify the exact requirements of the mark schemes provided so they can learn to write in a way that hits all criteria.
