I am a current student at University of Aberdeen, I am French and therefore can teach in both English and French. I studied the International Baccalaureate (IB). I am most confident with teaching high school students (year 8-12). I prefer to teach around practising a lot as I believe this is the way to assimilate lessons.
I treat every learner as an individual, so I adapt lessons to suit their needs. Flexibility is key in adapting a session to best suit the learner, so that they are able to get the best out of every session. It is reaching their academic goal that I keep in mind when approaching every session.
I am a very patient person who is never defeated so if a student does not understand immediately how to approach a problem I give them the tools to work through the problem and with patience.
As a tutor, I take the same approach that I aspired my tutors to take, when I was a student. This means a lot of student interactions, starting from the fundamentals and then moving on. I aim to involve the student a lot in the subject, by giving them routine home tasks. I find it very interesting giving lessons to Secondary and Highers students.
I love visuals and use them a lot even in my own studying: mind maps, brainstorms, diagrams, flow charts are all my best friends! I also love making up pneumonic or whatever it is to make that one annoying point stick into someone's memory.
I take this tutoring role very seriously, and while my approach to teaching may seem light-hearted, it is to put you at ease as I do not want to come across as intimidating. I am very enthusiastic when I teach, and during our tutor sessions, I will accord you my full attention because time is precious and I do not wish to waste both your and my time.
I approach all my teaching visually. I feel that I learn best when I can see/read the problem in front of me and therefore I have adopted this into my teaching style. I will use real world examples and simplify problems until the fundamentals are understood before moving on to complex questions.
I like to approach a problem in simple sections. Sectioning helps build up a whole picture much more easily. I apply this method in my teaching. Illustrations with basic day-to-day experiences is one of my favourite tools.
Doing phd in medical sciences I am capable of delivering the best and concept developing lectures.
My Teaching Method is to simplify the subjects so that anyone can understand it easily and fast. It is also a method I use for myself. I had a couple great teachers that made the subjects interesting and got me into them. I found kids learn best when they can use the things they have learned in everyday activities.
A devised methodical process ensuring the ‘why?’ is always explained and answered. Ensure you will be able to achieve all marks with full working out tips. Apt with AQA and Edexcel.
I have a PhD in Genetics and following an academic research career, I have more recently been self-employed as a private tutor, coaching local (Aberdeen, Scotland) primary and secondary students in person on a 1 to 1 or small group (2-3 students) basis. I also tutor students online who prefer this mode of coaching or are not in the immediate vicinity.
I personally prefer to work on the topics my pupil finds the hardest, once those topics are explained in detail and fully understood, I would then move onto the other easier topics on the syllabus. I find this method most effective because it eliminates the fear from the subject from the onset, there's nothing worse than running away from the topics that you feel are your weakest.
I explain the concepts and formulas first and then problems in a categorised manner, so the student can be easily understand and build with the complexity of problems. Always provide sufficient number of examples, and I also give supplementary handy notes material.
As a current Advanced Higher student I am familiar with the current National 5 and Higher Chemistry/Maths qualification structures. I am able to use my own personal experiences and familiarity with the course content in order to create the most effective lesson plans.
My lessons are for any student right from primary 1 up to university level. For the younger students I prefer to use visual aids thus making the problems more practical so that the student can get a better understanding of the problem and how to solve it . As for the older students, I make emphasis on practicing questions and drawing diagrams.
PhD candidate in engineering, with experience in both one-on-one and class tutoring for maths, physics, chemistry and general engineering courses. I tutor secondary school students and also undergraduates. I deliver my tutorials by breaking down the complex into the simple. This is done by pinning relationships between what is being taught and what the student experiences in their everyday life.
“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” - Albert Einstein. The above quotation was my inspiration to become a scientist. I base my lessons on training a student's mind to think and come up with solutions and beyond the idea of going to school and learning just facts.
I base my classes on student needs and try to use the expeditionary learning method to help understand some difficult aspects. I believe working on questions is really important for understanding the science, and have my own techniques for remembering harder content.
I find that practice in exam techniques invariably helps to rapidly improve grades. I am able to help my students to maximise their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques. I am considered to be patient and adaptable and many of my students come to me by recommendation.
Whenever possible, I really on an interactive, multi disciplinary method of teaching. Studies have shown that making information personally relevant leads to faster learning and long term memory. This method is proven the best especially for children that have trouble concentrating and paying attention in the conventional classroom.
I can firstly explain required topics to the student, and then use examples and exercises to ensure student's full understanding. Most of the work is student's job - he is the one who needs to understand, I can just navigate his/her thoughts to reach the highest level of understanding and to achieve necessary goals.
In initial lessons I will monitor you and how you methodically solve problems in order to discover your problem areas and develop plans on how to improve how you learn. As a tutor I am here to help you to achieve your goals, wether that be improving in class or aiming to pass your final exams to get into college/ university.
A PhD student in Engineering at Rorbert Gordon University. I give Maths, physics and Chemistry to secondary, and GCSE students. According to the saying, "Practice makes Perfect", I always try to get students to practice a lot as this will help them to make less errors in the exam.
My teaching methods is mostly in lectures and discussions mode.
My method includes deriving the formulae used and breaking down complex theory into simpler blocks. I then show examples of how the theory is applied in reality. To give a comprehensive background to chemistry theory, I can support chemical theory with biological, physical and mathematical theory.
I can teach up to advanced higher level, or sometimes higher. Tailoring my lessons around the needs of the student, I take time to understand a students difficulties before providing the right work and motivation to eradicate their previous weakness.
My teaching method involves more interactive session where student will through practical models and understanding the subject will be easy.
My teaching method is to allow a student to understand why an answer is as such, rather than them memorizing the correct answer I find it effective if you can understand why
I am a creative teacher & love giving real life examples to make mathematics a fun loving and easy to learn subject. Being a postgraduate student, I have studied Chemistry and Math to a good level and I love to impart the basics to primary, secondary and undergraduate students. Methods of instruction can be through lectures, presentations or video calls.
