Every lesson I teach is completely bespoke - tailored precisely to the needs of the individual student.
I base my class around the individual/s and cater to their needs. I find it most useful to start from the ground up and create a tool box of exercises which would benefit the student best. Once we've established a foundation, we work up towards bigger and bolder discoveries which you will be happy to tackle with confidence in any audition situation or role.
I'm a gentle and relaxed tutor who tailors classes to the individual requirements of students. I've been preparing students for Drama School Entrance auditions for 5 years - previous pupils have accepted places at RADA and LAMDA! DRAMA SCHOOL AUDITIONS. - Practical working of speeches. - Verse speaking technique. - Voice work (inc.
The beauty of the LAMDA syllabuses is we move at your own pace. The focus is always on your needs and your interests, building skills and confidence with the speed and challenges that are right for you. The most important thing is to connect with the material, so you build technique and interpretation on a truthful performance.
Methodology is entirely dependent on individual's current skills and requirements. The core is create a strong base vocally, physically and mentally ( the imagination is key) and of course how to apply that to text and performance and for what medium.
I've taught everyone from toddlers to pensioners, uni students to chief execs, the very confident to the very shy. I have a 100% success rate getting students into drama school, and I've helped a lot of people find their voice. You can only speak something well if you believe in what you're saying, and you believe in yourself. So my two-pronged approach focuses on just that.
My teaching method is friendly and open. I go through the required curriculum and advise prospective students on their choices. It is the students choice on which pieces they choose but I am there for guidance and encouragement. I will have students perform and sometimes tape the audition so we can look over it and dissect their performance.
I tailor my classes to your specific needs. Whether you need structure, guidance, reassurance, practice, or simply an ally in what can be a very stressful time of the year, I am looking forward to supporting you in releasing your creativity. With easy, practical tools to apply to monologues, songs, and overall presentation, I believe you can find ease and joy to overcome pressure.
I am a very relaxed teacher and will discuss with you the way you would like the lesson to go. It is not formal because I think you can do your best work in a relaxed environment. We look at audition material and depending where you are in the process of auditioning we can see what will work best for you to create the best most truthful performance.
I trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and have acted professionally for 15 years, including Phoebe in 'As You Like It' at the National Theatre, the Young Vic, Shakespeare's Globe, and on BBC's 'Luther' and E4's 'Misfits'. Most recently I appeared in the stage debut of Mike Bartlett's 'Not Talking' at the Arcola Theatre.
Working through the body to the voice to release your power and identify your unique selling point.
My methodology is hands-on and transparent. We utilise conversation in a safe space to discuss progress and challenges. I am well-versed in Linklater voice technique, Laban movement and have some Alexander technique experience. I utilise this along with Stanislavsky and Michael Chekhov acting techniques to give my students a wide variety of tools with which to grow.
I start by getting to know you better: your aims and your theatre background and then I help you reach your goals. I can teach you vocal and physical warm-ups and different methods of acting (Stanislavski, Chekhov, Meisner, Strasberg, Practical Aesthetics, Laban). The aim is to build your own method for you to become an autonomous actor.
I offer Drama School Audition preparation -guidance on finding the right classical and modern monologues -working on character development -voice work (breathing, articulation, range, accents) I've been preparing students for Drama School Entrance auditions for 2 years - previous pupils have been accepted into top drama schools. I can also help with LAMDA exams and NYT auditions.
I plan my structure carefully starting with warn ups before going straight into our topic. I like to include practical demonstrations to keep the student engaged. I also encourage the student to look deeply into the text and respond to the objective in their own interpretation. As a tutor it is important to be a role model to give them inspiration.
The basis of my approach is realism in acting. I work with you to help bring out truth and honesty in your performance, whether intended for the screen or stage. My specialisation is character work. Having trained as a psychologist, I apply my unique background and formal experience to understand the role or character you are portraying.
I am a professional singer that has sung in venues such as the Royal Opera House and Glyndebourne Opera. Classical singing (opera, art song, oratorio etc), singing for musical theatre and pop singing. - Tell me about your qualifications.
Sessions are tailor made to suit each student/client's needs. Many people focus on their approach to Shakespeare and how to demystify the language, others work from a more physical approach to text. Some we focus on issues of confidence and belief.
The way I teach is through personal experience things that have worked for me and things i have learnt along the way that will hopefully help others.

My methods are rooted in the individual. An informal chat is my way of understanding the best approach for you, considering your experience and goal. We can begin by discussing your expectations, then move onto more specific areas such as audition technique, or text based study etc. My classes are fun, so no anxiety is needed here.
I have developed a unique and customisable approach, taken from different methods and techniques. The focus of my lessons can be resumed with three words: voice, body, mind.
I am here to help prepare and polish audition pieces for both Drama Schools (Acting and Musical Theatre) and the Industry. With each student I will work on their chosen monologues, however also offer suggestions, as well as polishing songs that they have chosen (I can also help with RP and General American accents). It is an exciting but nervous time and I am here to offer guidance and knowledge.
As a graduate from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in Manhattan, NY I have access to the knowledge shared amongst all reputable drama schools as well as a specific understanding of Adler technique. The Adler technique is a methodology of acting particularly focused on releasing the intense capabilities of our imagination and it is very hard to find Adler training in the UK.
I am a very person oriented teacher and will adapt my method based on the personality of my student/s. I have a great passion for words and linguistics and am particularly good at helping my students bring their text to life including classical texts such as Shakespeare.
Over the years I have assisted in many workshops and classes. Children sometimes feel quite nervous about acting in front of their peers, it can feel a bit exposing so I like to approach a class by making the most fun out of it. Beginning with several games, particularly games that make you as goofy as possible to help them loosen up and not worry.
I work to the specific students needs and find the right Drama school for them. Working together to get their perfect audition speeches together, well rounded personal statement and interview skills perfected. Once found, we will work on their speeches, making them their own. building up confidence so that come audition time, they will feel completely at ease when in front of that panel.
