I am offering lessons to GCSE and A-Level students primarily, but anyone who is passionate about art and would like the opportunity to expand their knowledge is welcome regardless of age.
I take a very student- centred approach to teaching. I offer guidance, coaching and fair critique of artwork presented. I act as a source of advice and information for the student to take as they please. I base my classes on fair critique. I approach each topic by at first discussing the project with the student and formulating a ‘plan of attack’.
I base my lesson on specifically identifying the needs of the student. Whether its to teach, develop, nurture. Teach: starting from basics, foundations needed in specific craft. Develop: offer techniques, tips and tricks of the trade to enhance artistic skills nurture: coach students with practise drills and tutor students to understand on areas to improve.
I mainly tutor beginners and students up to GCSE level, however I can offer advice to more advanced students in specific areas. I am very positive, calm and committed to helping all students improve their skills and broaden the variety media they use in their own artwork.
1. Brainstorming — various techniques Interactive brainstorming is typically performed in group sessions. The process is useful for generating creative thoughts and ideas. Brainstorming helps students learn to pull together.
My teaching method involves combining theoretical and practical knowledge to activities centered around the goals and ambitions of the individual. The teaching has a clear emphasis on improvement of skill and competency, whilst maintaining a conscious backbone on the creativity that uniquely resides in each artist. Responsible with your time, friendly and articulate.
Let's learn to illustrate and draw in your own unique style - for Secondary School, College Students and Adults! Starting off with pencil and ink - learn confidence in your style of drawing! -Basics - composition, layout -Choosing subject matter -Embracing your signature style -Drawing the human form as well as inanimate objects and scenes -Embracing imperfection in your drawing
The student will start the lesson by 'warming up' with quick experimental still life drawings to help train the student's eye so that they are able to notice and record in more detail. Then they will work on their project. It is important that the student is interested in what they are drawing, so a project format for drawing will be engaging and informative.
I am 25 years old, offering lessons to 12+ that are considering a creative career, up to more mature people that want to follow art as a hobby. I strongly believe in tailoring lessons towards each individual student, therefore I offer the first lesson for free to help understand what the student is wanting from their lessons and to help me gear future lessons towards those needs.
In my classes, the student comes first, as we work together towards achieving the student's goals. We will talk about what inspires the student, which artists they look up to and what genres they enjoy. We will also discuss anything the student wants to improve upon - maybe they want to practice drawing hands or faces, or perhaps they would like to learn how to digitise their artwork.
First I will see the student's level and preferred medium, then see the aspired end result, and take it one step at a time from there, focusing on strengthening the fundamentals. Please note that I prefer tutoring in public places such as coffee shops, libraries etc... Rather than visiting student's homes.
In preparation for a class I would create a structured program to teach the full extent of my knowledge in a clear and concise way. My teaching would be focused mainly on physical exercises in which I can then guide correct technique.
Teaching art is very much about identifying the strengths of the artist and using those to allow them to rethink their drawings, for realistic or more imagination based drawings the key is being able to portray it in a visually stunning way and I believe that can be achieved by the persons self development and self understanding.
This is for people who would like to improve their sketching ability, I will offer help on things like proportions, composition, shading. I can also help you improve your painting skills, acrylic, watercolour and oil painting.
I aim to provide relaxed and stimulating environment making our lesson's as much fun as possible. All lessons will be prepared individually based on your needs, skills and interests so you could get the most of your time and make it a unique experience for both of us. Understand my guidance you'll be able to decide what you want to practice and how intensive you want our lessons to be.
My methodology is to root my students with firm knowledge of fundamental principles of art and design. After which, anything is possible.
I approach each topic according to the level and degree of the student, and attempt to achieve the best teaching method possible.

I am available to give Fine Art tutoring sessions to students who are looking to improve their portfolios in preparation for University.

I’m really friendly and happy working one to one and with small groups.

Start small and work your way up. Not knowing who you are interacting with, or understanding the level of knowledge they hold, means you could miss something vital.
The experience I have with tutoring is limited to giving advice and feedback to other students within the classroom or breaks during exams. Due to my help, my classmates had improved up to 2 levels and even reach their target grades .
Since I'm still learning myself I'm basing my classes on what I already know and what helped me in the past to improve. With art and drawing it is important to get feedback and learn to look critically on your own work and get the motivation to improve.
I am educated to masters level in Art and design and have professional experience of teaching a variety of learners. From beginners to the intermediate, I will tailor my lessons to suit your interests and will help you develop your voice as an artist. Both technique and feedback, I will push you to explore new media and ways of thinking about art. En plein air is something I do quite a lot of, as I don't own a studio, but I can move around Exeter and give lessons at home.
My relevant skills include painting (watercolor, acrylic etc), printmaking, drawing (pencil, charcoal etc) sculpture, photography, needlework, textiles, sewing machine skills, photoshop skills and portfolio preparation. I can offer one to one art classes for beginners, children, youth, and those of an intermediate level.
