My teaching method is to get to know the pupil and to create lessons which tailor the pupils needs. I would teach the basics and band methodology to pupils of any age. I am a casual put professional tutor which makes lessons fun and enjoyable. I believe that working in an ensemble is a good way of teaching and will play along side my pupils making lessons fun and educational.
I approach every lesson by working out what my student wants to learn/get out of the lesson. I then set a target/aim and make sure that it is smashed by the end of the lesson.
My teaching method really depends on the age, ability and goals of the student. It will be tailored towards you. Students who are aiming high will be pushed and challenged to help them achieve whereas youngsters and casual drummers will be taught the fundamentals of drumming and be given a solid foundation to be able to improve and develop on their own.

I like to be flexible when teaching and tailor each lesson around what the drummer would like to learn and focus on as well as what their weaknesses and strengths are. I can start from a basic 4/4 beat through to advanced fills depending on the requirements of the drummer. My emphasis towards the drummer is always solid, rock hard, tight drumming.

I have been playing drums in bands for 25 years both covers and originals. I have been teaching for the past 4 years with many successful students. I am a self taught musician currently in my first year of college and wish to pass on my knowledge to others. Musicians should not be taught to follow others, they should find themselves.
"How would you hold a baby bird in your hand? You don’t want it to fly away and you don’t want to crush it. That’s how gently you should be gripping your drum sticks!" I teach Beginners, Intermediate and advanced levels. Whether you are a complete beginner or somebody who never quite learnt the basics it is important to get solid foundation on any instrument.
As a teacher my lessons rely on encouraging the student to be as much interested and hungry for knowledge as I am. The lessons take either half an hour or an hour, and the technical aspects of playing drums takes an equal part with the concepts and understanding of certain styles or music itself.
I have developed a lot of my own teaching materials, I use these in conjunction with established books and play-a-longs to structure lessons to meet your interests. I provide encouragement to develop your skills and technique, and build your confidence as a musician. All ages and abilities welcome. DBS Checked.
