My teaching methods will be very practical, I have a lot of exercises that were given to me by my teachers and I know that they work. I also have a lot of different music and arrangements that I can give to students of varying levels.
I have recently moved to Glasgow and am keen to take on new students. I am a 28-year-old University Master’s graduate from Brighton. As of January 2018, I have been playing guitar for over 21 years. I am primarily self-taught although I have, in my time, taken lessons with several well-established instructors and have a Grade 8 certificate from Trinity & Guildhall.
I'm Fraser Murray, I've been teaching music lessons since I was in university as a student mentor across the country. I'm a patient, motivating teacher who can give free form or structured (graded) lessons for music and all forms of guitar.
My teacher method usually follows one lesson a week per client consisting of an hour, the hour is split half theory/technique and half playing. Very flexible of what genre of songs, will let clients pick at the end of each lesson next weeks song or can use my own selection.
In my lessons, I create a relaxed atmosphere moving only as fast as the students capabilities. Its important to be taken our your comfort zone with music however, I want to make lessons as fun and interesting as possible for my students.
I approach all teaching (and even if I'm teaching myself) with a slow and steady, start from scratch attitude. Let's make sure we're both on the same page and understand what we're really looking at and hearing before going forward. I like to recreate the teaching structure that I had at the age of 9 onwards.

My teaching method is unique - when I started learning to play the guitar I attended a number of 'typical' group sessions, where classics such as 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star,' were painstakingly learned, note by note. As a youngster, this slowly put me off as I wanted to learn the songs I knew and loved - I wanted to be a rockstar.

When we listen to music, it makes us feel good. It inspires us and affects our mood in ways unique to the arts. I believe this should translate into teaching/learning music, also. I tailor each lesson to the individual and use their own interests to relate more general musical concepts. I find that this is the most engaging and motivating way to teach.
