A Bit About Me: I am a young tutor with eight years of experience teaching students of all levels in English and Creative Writing. I have a first class undergraduate degree in English Literature and an MSt in Creative Writing from the University of Cambridge. I am an enthusiastic teacher who keeps up with changing attitudes towards learning styles and teaching methodologies.
I have always been deeply passionate about English language and literature, I'm sure I could read before I could walk! I obviously have my favourites, but I will read and analyse every and any book put in front of me. I have written more short stories than I've had hot meals, and am currently working on my debut novel (among several other pet projects).
I will tutor from GCSE to undergraduate level in Creative Writing and English Literature. For philosophy and art history, I'll tutor for GCSE and A Level. I'd also tutor in Creative Writing if you're looking to start writing and you're not sure where to start or you'd like a little more academic knowledge without going for an official course or qualification.
I understand the need for that little extra help here and there, so I will cater my lessons to you. We can mould a lesson plan together around your worries and perhaps, weaknesses, meaning we can shape a better future for your subject.
I like to approach essays by comparing them to film-making. A film much like an essay has a beginning, middle, and end and has an audience that it is trying to reach. In order to inform, persuade or entertain the audience you must make the beginning interesting, the middle engaging, and the end conclusive and concise.
I am willing to give lessons to student up until GCSE level. I am willing to help individuals who would like to improve their grammar, essay writing and knowledge on certain areas of study. I will structure my lessons according to the subject matter that you would like to be taught.
I approach my teaching according to each student's needs and set out a plan for what they hope to achieve. From becoming more confident in reading and writing skills to approaching critical theories and applying them to text. I can also help to develop individual thought and how to express it in an academic style.
Anyone who needs help with grasping the concepts and techniques of the language. The method will be catered to the needs and skill level of the student and will focus on developing their understanding of the language. My lessons will be structured and you will clearly be able to see your progress.
I will give lessons to those who need it, however preferably people younger than 15. In order to teach them to the point of improvement to mine and their satisfaction I will either colour code the level that they are on(for younger or new to English students) or use h,l,a (higher, lower and average) accompanied by what level I think they are at.
My learning method is listening, repeating and learning from the base. It is important to acquire a good dramatic, understand the language, how it works and the general rules.
My teaching method is to engage the student as much as possible so that they feel comfortable with their independent study
I will consistently test your knowledge in order to ensure you understand the material I teach.
I assess needs and levels and develop plan accordingly.
I conduct one to one session or PowerPoint presentation as well as assessment based teaching
I teach in modules, focusing on aspects where the students themselves might not feel so confident. Practise makes perfect as they say, so even if they feel confident in a subject, we will continue to learn and practice more from it.
Working one to one to gain the best results and progression. Lessons are tailored to individuals and are reflected upon after each session. Homework is set following on from lessons. A fun-filled approach to support the learning.
My teaching method is very much based on building confidence. English is a subject where many students do not feel confident to explore their abilities. I believe confidence comes with independence and I structure my sessions with this in mind. I believe I am there to prompt and encourage rather than instruct and direct.
My teaching method is fun and informative. I try to focus on the needs of individuals and deliver my lessons according ti their needs.
My teaching method is problem solving than practice till get rite..
My method changes depending on the student and their particular needs. I cater for any student and for any special educational needs. Lessons are best from my home as I have a small classroom set up with useful aids and parents are more than welcome to stay and overwatch the lesson with a cuppa.
I believe in working with each student to identify their strengths and particular areas of interest in the subject in order to unlock their potential. I use a range of methods to bring out the best in those I work with by identifying what kind of learner they are and developing their confidence to take ownership and pride in their work.
MY teaching method is to get to know my pupils to understand which method is best suited to them. I like to build a rapport with pupils and make lessons interesting whilst also concentrating on content. I like lessons to be structured but with an informal nature.
I prefer to tailor my teaching methods to the individual student. Upon starting with me, we will set out an action plan including what you want to cover, when and in what detail. I will provide worksheets etc to test knowledge throughout lessons.
My teaching style is very relaxed, fun and engaging. I like to be interactive with learning, and get everyone involved.
I base my classes on what my student needs assistance on most; whether that is knowledge on word types (e.g. nouns, verbs) or written expression. I take the academic level that my student is at into consideration.
Teaching is individual so I prefer to work one-to-one or in small groups. In this scenario I can meet the learners' needs. If you understand through lecturing - I will lecture, if you understand and grasp that concept better through images - I will have PowerPoints and visuals - I've even been known to use a puppet! Students determine how I teach and whatever it takes, I will do it.
