My preference is year 11 and below for both English and Music, as those are the ages I have helped before. I approach teaching perhaps a little differently to most... I don't believe that every person should be taught the same way. I teach in a way that allows the student to feel as though they are a person with individual needs. Below you will find one of the covers I have done singing.
I'm currently studying English literature at A-Level and received A*s in language and literature in my GCSEs. I offer tuition to primary and secondary school students working towards their SATs or GCSEs, and aim to help pupils improve on their weaker areas of the subject whilst ensuring lessons are engaging and enjoyable.
I like to begin by having my student provide recent mock exam papers or having them do one I provide to see their abilities. Then I will focus on the areas they struggle in before going over the entirety of both papers. Then I will test them again to see improvement until they are satisfied with their grades.
I have never taught or tutored before so I would let the student inform me of how they like to learn. I myself am a visual learner so I may try to go over things that way. Happy to re-explain in any way. I would look over the syllabus/materials to make sure that I understand what the student is looking for.
My teaching methods are strongly based in dialogic ideas, and talking/working through the learning together. I approach subjects by helping students to identify the gaps in understanding and creating next steps.
I aim to make my lessons as engaging and interesting as possible in order to facilitate chilsren’s learning.
