Hello there. As you're reading this, you have already realised that you would like some extra support and I really can help. Do please read the following answers to see whether you too feel I can. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach English and English Literature to all ages and levels up to A' level and Maths to GCSE level.
After several years as a passionate and scholarly English teacher, mostly at GCSE and AS/A Level, I now concentrate on 1:1 tuition which I really love. I believe that everyone can improve with effort and help, at any age. Get in touch if you do too. - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach English at all levels from KS3 to university students.
As a teacher I am patient and considerate...hopefully intersteing too! I ensure that the content of my lessons suits everyone's individual needs and helps them to feel confident with anything that they may find perplexing. I also challenge students to think outside the box and to think for themseves in order to problem solve independently.
I am a relaxed, easy going person with a professional, disciplined attitude and sense of humour. I listen carefully and find out what is required for improvement. I have a smooth, gentle approach, making you feel comfortable.
I give lessons to improve essay structure grammar, spelling, punctuation, and essay structure. I also offer lessons to help pupils close read core texts for English Literature essays and examinations. I can also offer tutoring in effective revision techniques for examinations.
In my sessions, I begin with a plenary of the session before to ensure content retention, we then spend 45 minutes covering a new topic until the student is comfortable within their understanding, followed by a 5 minute topic recap.
My teaching method is to be fun and interactive, so that the children learn not only the content, but also the processes in which to achieve the learning outcome. I can tutor any child up to the age of 12, and know the expectations of SATS and phonics screening processes.
I teach primary school up to A-level students - but would also be happy to teach more general/non-curriculum lessons to anyone who perhaps might want to brush up on their English. My first stage would be getting an understanding about what the learner wishes to gain from the experience (whether it is improving a specific skill set, gaining more confidence or learning an exam syllabus, etc).
- Classes Children follow a programme, the starting point being determined by an initial assessment. The maths programme is pure maths - from number recognition to GCSE algebra. It includes topics such as shape, time, measurement, area/perimeter, series, etc. We will also help with applied topics as required. We can provide practice papers for school exams (KS1, KS2, GCSE).
