My approach on methodology depends on the student I am working with and their individual aims and objectives for the tuition. Some of my students just want to prepare for exams, so we do extensive work on past papers, revision and exam technique.
I am currently doing my PhD in mathematics at Imperial College London, but my background is in theoretical physics. I have been a physics and mathematics tutor for three years now, mentoring about 80 students, up to university level.
Understanding is always better than memorisation. True depth in understanding eliminates the need to remember facts/processes/tricks/examples as much, which makes an exam a whole lot less stressful! (I talk from experience!!!) My aim when tutoring is always to foster this depth in understanding and not simply to get a student through an exam on their capacity to retain information temporarily.
I teach Maths to Primary school children and Secondary school children and also cover the 11+ and 13+ exams for selective schools. All my students have developed a love for Maths.
Tutoring Approach SATs & 11+: Dr Puri mainly help students in solving sample paper questions. He helps students to develop technique to solve questions using short and long method (when possible). If the student is particular weak in a topic, a full lesson dedicate in confidence building in the weak areas.
My teaching method is such that I break down the topics into the most simplest way possible so that even the students who are struggling to learn would be able to learn. I'm very determined and passionate about helping others that I would not easily give up until the student fully understands a topic.
I can readily talk mathematics at university level - analysis, algebra, geometry, statistics you name it. I like to work with well-chosen examples and work them out in depth. I think it is important to reinterpret a piece of mathematics in ones own words and being able to apply the main ideas to a bunch of good examples. I think I can provide guidance in doing so.
Most of my teaching time has been spent with students in secondary education, with a focus on maths, economics, and history. My teaching methodology is one that aims to improve students' confidence as a first priority, enabling them to feel that the challenges they face are manageable and surmountable.
My approach to tutoring is to consider every student as an individual and to make learning fun. I have a passion for the subjects that I teach and I try to enthuse my students too. A happy student is a more productive student and I endeavour to make my tutoring sessions a highlight of their week, rather than a chore.
My focus is on 1 to 1 sessions on all topics covered in Maths for GCSE and A-Level. I mark and grade past papers, going through areas of concern with each student to ensure high passes. I take a meticulous approach with each of students.
My teaching method is very calm and structured. I prefer a step by step approach to problems. I always go through a theory together with the student and perform a few example exercises, before supervising the student as they practice themselves.
I have various experience, from teaching students who need extra boost to naturally talented students. I teach by perfecting the understanding of the foundation of Mathematics, so that my students are able to grasp the entirety of the problem. I am a devoted student of Mathematics at Queen Mary University, and I aspire to become a professor in the field of pure Mathematics.
My method of teaching encourages learning by heavy practicing; I truly believe anyone can learn Mathematics at a higher level through consistent, constant and thorough practicing.
i would usually start the instruction by seeing your level of understanding. i could both give a technical tutotial giving you the tools to tackle problems, or a theory like tutorial where i would talk about interesting problem that are more logic based in order to enlargen the field of mathematics which you understand.
my method of teaching is by attempting. id quickly explain the fundamentals but take time during the actual attempt to solve a problem. breaking the problem down to individual parts so its easier to take in.
Subsequently I have worked with Years 2 to 6 in primary schools, as well as more teaching of KS3 Maths in secondary schools. As a class teacher I have become skilled at teaching, planning, assessing and levelling children, as well as organising and assisting duties and tasks.
With 43 years professional experience I tutor in all major subjects of Civil Engineering. Examples: 1) Hydraulics 2) Concrete Structures 3) Steel Structures 4) Mathematics 5) Management 6) MICE qualification I live in central London and accept students to my teaching space. I do not visit students.
I base my class on the very basics as I believe if the basics are clear then one can have complete understanding of the topic throughout.
I always begin the first class doing 2 things: 1) getting to know you- this builds a strong rapport between us, 2) giving an initial assessment to see what level you are at and what specific topics we need to work on. After that, all lessons are based on previous classes and what you personally feel you need to work on in that particular lesson.
As a student myself, I would not like to give boring lectures during the lessons. Instead, my teaching goal is to make things clear, precise and interactive for all students. Why, What, How? - I will usually teach from the reasoning or proving part of a topic, followed by the main content and its application on daily lives to make students understand the certain topic from various aspects.
I base my teaching on getting to know each child’s strengths and abilities through consistent assessment, using a wide variety of resources including online material. I base the success of lessons on nurturing confidence in the children I teach, giving them opportunities to be expressive and creative whilst also maintaining a formal structure that supports each child in their learning journey.
I am a UK qualified mathematics teacher with twelve years experience in UK secondary schools at all ability levels. I help students, via online lessons, to find their way with maths, to achieve their best goals in the subject through a solid grasp of techniques.
I focus a lot on the 'quality over quantity' approach by going in depth of the topics until my student has an intuitive understanding of the subject. This allows for a smoother transition between topics and an elevated confidence level.
I start teaching with the extreme basics of the subject, giving a thorough overview of what's going on and slowly approach towards the practical use of the subject. I pre-plan things to teach and the medium of teaching is English.
Each lesson I will teach in a way to fit the needs of the pupil, these may include: - Staying ahead of the Syllabus taught in school, by teaching the syllabus on a weekly basis, allowing the pupil to have a better grip on a topic by the time they are scholastically introduced to it.
My method is fairly simple: first I approach basic understanding of topics, focusing on areas of weakness until I am satisfied that my student has good comprehension of the subject area. After this I focus on exam technique (this is, after all, where most marks are gained and lost).
I know exactly what it takes to help your child achieve the grade they aspire to whether it be a Grade 9 or 5. I am very skilled in knowing how to approach different questions depending on your child`s current skill-set. I choose the best ways to make sure they remember.
My teaching method begins with finding what my students problems are and where their difficulty lies. From what i get, i start there and write out objectives to make sure each one is ticked of towards the end of the session. Moving on, i would ensure the topics are understood and get straight into problems from different sources.
My teaching method is based on a calm one to one experience in which I use a personalised plan for each student. They can decide what they need to work on along with topics given by myself which can increase their awareness of their subject and overall educational experience.
I specialise in GCSE and pre GCSE mathematics and like to focus on teaching maths in a fun way. A student who enjoys their lessons is more likely to put more work in and do well. I am patient, reliable and have a genuine passion for my subject.
