Communicative language teaching (CLT) to enable the learners to communicate effectively and appropriately in the various situations they would be likely to find themself in. The content of CLT courses are functions such as inviting, suggesting, complaining or notions such as the expression of time, quantity, location.
I listen to what my student needs, how he or she likes to work and adapt to this. Usually, I prepare lessons on certain topics and then go through both rules and exercises during the lesson. If possible, I give them homework to make lessons more productive. I also help with school homework and prepare my students for their exams.
I aim to provide engaging and detailed lessons to students at all linguistic levels.
Nobody will ever get a real feeling for a language through a book. The famous 70:20:10 Learning model shows that most people most effectively learn (70%) through experience, 20% through others and 10% from a book. Tutoring perfectly covers the 70% and 20% in this model. My lessons focus on hearing and speaking the language which ensures long-term learning rather than 'bulimia'-learning.
Having fun and enjoying your practice is key. If you feel confident enough I will be talking just German to you. I believe it is important to get a feeling for a language through listening and speaking, plus it is a lot more fun than the boring Grammar-exercises. Don't get me wrong.

My main teaching method is to get people speaking and using words as quickly as possible. I believe that we only really connect with languages when we can express things in them. That's why vocabulary and simple expressions and the confidence to formulate even the most basic of sentences, is the best start.
I'm a third year student at Cardiff University. I'm 20 years old- I still remember and school tests and being told to memorise useless vocabulary lists- so in my teaching, I try to emphasise every-day scenarios so the student can communicate the concepts and ideas confidently rather than rote-learning things you can't apply.
