Most importantly you need to be having fun, so we’re going to be learning the songs of your choice but as well as mastering the parts, we’ll be looking at the music theory behind the songs and how what you’ve learned can help you progress to the next level.

My name is Sam Shute, I am a professional guitar tutor and I teach one-to-one classes to people of all ages and abilities. I tailor my lessons specifically to my student's needs, finding out what their musical interests and goals are, assessing their ability and developing a structured lesson plan suited to them based on their interests and what they would like to achieve.
I teach in an enthusiastic and precise manner. Lessons are structured around the interest of the student and what they want to get out of learning an instrument. Therefore every student has lessons tailored around their needs. In regards to learning new technical abilities (Such as chords or scales) I find songs that the student enjoys that use them, as to provide a fun and practical lesson.
For me, student enjoyment and focusing on what they want to learn is paramount as i believe people (especially when learning music) learn best and stay committed when they’re learning what they want to learn.
I love to give the student the choice on what he/she wants to learn and adapt my lessons to it. I start by establishing the level and then we build on it. I think i am a patient and caring tutor.
How did I develop such a life changing relationship with music? All it starts with picking up an Instrument, in my case the Guitar.
I approach individually to every student, depending on his music taste and goal that he wants to achieve. I teach the foundation of guitar playing like chords and scales and then I teach how to develop them in an intuitive way. I'll teach all kinds of techniques like picking, sweep picking, tapping, arppegio, bending of guitar playing targeted for a Lead Guitarist.
I have been teaching Guitar for just over 25 years. Many of my students have sat their Guitar grade exams where I have achieved a %100 pass rate with them. I have had students also go on to become teachers themselves.
I teach all levels of Classical and Jazz guitar tuition. Jazz tuition is structured initially around acquisition of thorough fingerboard knowledge (scales, triads, chords, etc) first, followed by developing jazz language through a primarily chord tone based approach. This is applied in conjunction with the learning of fundamental standards from the jazz repertory.
I approach teaching with a relaxed, but structured approach. Planned lessons are important to ensure progress, however flexibility is just as key to keep the lessons interesting and individual to you. After following a fixed beginner/intermediate lesson plan, an individual lesson plan will be created and modified for you depending on interests and the speed at which you're progressing.
At the moment I tutor exclusively in one-on-one sessions. I aim to teach in a relaxed and informal environment with focus on the aims and abilities of the student, not just following a curriculum or book. I do not concern myself with grading- it's all about your personal progress as an individual.
My teaching method and approach is always different and depends on what the student wants from our lessons; I would be happy teaching from classical guitar to electric or bass guitar.
Guitar lessons should be a fun and rewarding experience and this is what I aim for in each lesson I teach. Whether you're just starting out or wanting to improve your playing, lessons can help get you on the right track. Lessons are suitable for all ages and abilities and designed around your goals.
I like to teach music in a way that will get my students to develop their musical ear and aural perception, allowing them to more independently learn the songs that they wish to learn themselves without the need of lots of sheet music and other types of notation.
I base my lessons upon gaining basic skills and learning some melodies at first and then progress on to learning music theory however i will always split lessons up so that me and the student will go through something they're excited to learn and practice.
