I'm in my last year of a history degree at the University of Aberdeen and I'm looking to gain some experience as I eventually want to end up in teaching. I'm open to giving lessons and help for students up to Highers levels and would mostly prefer to give advice and guidance on subjects and coursework rather than teaching the subject in depth.
I am flexible to fitting around what you want to learn/achieve and fully believe that where there’s a will there is a way! So I am aware that everyone is different and learns in different ways and would adapt to your needs.
My teaching method would be strongly based on my own experience as a student. As I am well aware of the importance of a personal approach, tailored specifically to the student in order to elucidate the academic material, through the usage of practical and interesting activities, I would attempt to leave the student with a significant desire and love of knwledge.
I am keen in teaching history and geography. Reason being i taught my classmates in high schol and they all did well. I am more interested in the Cold War and Russian Revolution. I got a bachelors degree in High School.
My teaching method is to make things fun and interactive for kids so that they will find many fun and ingaging ways to remember things and pass their exams.
Ensuring that people have a fun, interested and genuinely good experience of education is something I greatly believe in. As such, I strongly believe that when given the opportunity lessons should be tailored specifically to the individual through interesting and practical activities.
I tend to work through an enquirer based method whereby I give materials pre-session to explore together during the class. This, I feel works better for students who wish to gain more skills and practice working on skills. I also utilise the more traditional slides and presentation format with workings and exercises for those students who feel more comfortable with this.
I have been teaching for four years now, and have been a marker for the Scottish Qualifications Authority for two years. I work by ensuring my students feel comfortable and know what they want to achieve, I then get to know a bit about them and how they like to learn before setting up a plan to help them achieve their full potential.
My teaching style is very modern and encourages pupils to find their own way of learning that is best for them - to ensure success. I keep my lessons engaging and fun while still covering all of the important aspects required.
