When I was at school I was a poor student. I found it difficult to understand what teachers were trying to teach and promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to teach others, I would try to be engaging, interesting but challenging. Having built a highly successful training company that I sold 5 years ago I based the teaching we delivered in that business so it engaged all students.
I see it as essential that all the children feel involved and interested in the subject, but that the subject has practicality and is related to real life so the children understand its usefulness. As a tutor you need to show a strong understanding and interest of your subject or otherwise those you teach wont care for your lessons.
I believe that being a younger individual helps me when teaching because I can relate to the way the student is thinking. I think that a strong relationship with a tutor helps any individual to learn more efficiently and ultimately remember what they are learning.
My teaching methodology mixes both didactic and independent learning styles. I focus heavily on examination technique. I use a wide range of appropriate resources to prepare students for examination success.
Every student is different and requires a different approach and this is the foundation of my teaching method. I adapt my style to the student. I am happy to offer lessons to A-level, GCSE and secondary school students who need a little bit of extra help.
I've always had a great passion for History, which I see as a continuous lesson in causality and the very best discipline for researching and understanding the human condition. It is not an exercise of simply memorising and reciting lists of dates. - Which subject(s) do you teach? History and Politics - Tell me about your qualifications.
