I offer tutoring to students of GCSE level and above. My teaching methodology is based on minimising my input and maximising the student's. I believe History is something fascinating and enriching. My aim is to transmit this enthusiasm to students and give them a desire to learn about it for themselves.
Until recently I was working at Imperial War Museum Duxford, and also at the Shuttleworth Collection as the Education and STEM manager. Put simply my job was to make education as fun, engaging and interactive as it could be.
With subjects such as Sociology and the Humanities, I believe being able to visualise theories/timelines/processes is the most beneficial way to learn. For areas such as Maths and Science, I see constant repetition as the best method, and attempt to make this as fun as possible.
I can give one on one tutoring to help with exam perpetration.
My preferred method of teaching is one on one, this way giving undivided attention to a student. Approaching the course topic by topic, providing feedback on essays, either in person or through online comments, regarding both content and structure. Group classes are also a service offered, allowing students to not only learn from the tutor but also one-another.
As I'm just starting out, I'm happy to accommodate the learning preferences of whomever I would be teaching; whatever works for you, I will make work for me! First lesson would be free, and would help both to establish what sort of help you require and also to allow me to make preparations for the following lesson should there be one.
I'm very happy to give lessons to GCSE and A level students, particularly A level students who may be interested in applying to Oxbridge. My lessons are flexible to my students, but I prefer to study history by theme, and look at politics primarily through institutions and ideologies.
I am in my final year at the University of Cambridge, studying Human, Social and Political Sciences, and gained the highest mark of my year-group in the International Relations module last year. Having done A Levels in History (A*), Politics (A*) and Geography (A), I am confident in tutoring students up to A Level standard in these subjects, and primary, KS3 or GCSE level in other subjects.
I make extensive use of primary sources, drawing upon different forms of media that reflect a range of historical and cultural viewpoints and biases, in order to develop a student's ability to critically analyse and confidently argue their own interpretation of the evidence.
My teaching methodology is highly personalised, and tailored to suit the goals of the individual or group that I'm tutoring. If academic achievement is the object of our sessions, I'm happy to help with essay planning, revision, and increasing general comfort with the material.
- Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach English (language and literature), History, Music and also Horn and Music Theory. - Tell me about your qualifications. GCSEs 9A* 3A including UK placings in English literature and Music; AAAAA at AS Level; AAAA at A Level; Grade VIII Distinction and Dip.
i approach the topics and subjects with an open mind and a fresh start. i follow the pace the student is willing to work at and i easily form great relationships with others.
I primarily wish to give lessons to students, on a one to one basis, who are studying at an A-level degree and wish to go to university. I will not only teach essay writing technique but also content and historiography, which will serve useful to students who wish to study history at an undergraduate level.
My method is discussion. Clarify, create a focused and appropriate historical argument. Including historical facts times dates etc.
My teaching method is highly tailored to the student. No two people learn the same, so it is important to make it fun and engage in the way that a student learns best. I will offer lessons to Primary, Secondary, and undergraduate students in uni. I like to make History fun.
I aim to approach each topic in a logical way - tackling and foundations before moving on to consider the deeper and more complex questions. Each topic will be worked through at the student's pace, with challenges where necessary and support where required. The topics will also be considered in light of potential essays and ways of working through these will be considered too.
Initially, lessons focus on identifying weakness and areas for growth. This allows me to create a lesson plan for the coming sessions, which I then discuss with the student and their guardians to ensure their approval of the plan. I have found that confidence is often at the root of students difficulties.
